 Topic: How do I get dual Hyd on my D17,(outlet- return)

I need help on how to get hyd set up on my D17 that has only one Hyd inlet/outlet. I have a 10 foot drill with a dual acting cylinder that has an outlet and return hose. Is there a hyd housing/valve that i can use so I can use my drill. Right now I have the single port where I can only use a single acting cylinder. my D17 is a 59 model if that helps. Thanks

You just need a vent for the cylinder, Take off the hose that you don't need to raise the drill and put the vent in it's place.

I am not sure what a "vent" is, the cyl is a common one with two hoses one on each end of the cylinder. do I take of one hose and plug the hole?

A vent looks just like a plug but has a passage in it to let the air in and out of the dead side of the cylinder. Most farm stores should have them.

Yes just remove the hose from the end of the cylinder that puts downforce on the drill...or you can make a setup like this
The hose is just plugged into the one outlet for storage...when using a cylinder it gets hooked into the transport valve to the right.

A breather would be easy, but don't let the cylinder quite fully stroke to the end and have the AC 3700 psi pump hammer on it. Most 2 way cylinders are for a 2200 psi system and the good ole AC high pressure pump could blow the hyd cylinder apart.

Yup,what the DR.said,I blew the end off 2 7/16 bolts on a low pressure cyl. with my WD45.

With the AC high pressure Low volume setup. You can use a regular 2 way cylinder if you vent the other side but I guarantee it will be slow. Your better off all the way around to find a proper high pressure cylinder. Or better yet, trade up to a series 4 or newer tractor with the hydraulic system in place to operate your cylinder.

I Have used a regular tie rod cylinder with my WD45 and have had 0 problems. It reacts just as fast as my cousins cylinder on his farmall M does.

I do have one with grond drive lift also so I can use that one but i have always used the hyd lift drill they are both 10 ft pda jd. so if I vent the down pressure side and be careful not to over do it it will work. I wish I had my 190 gas running.
