Well that 504 is a love hate thing for sure. Interesting, but glad it is not mine. Lotta great responses in this thread. I like running our Super C. Got a MH 44 that is a nice runner but the fav is my Farmall MD (with power steering and 3 point). Always liked the x000 Fords back when, but not that much of a 2 cylinder fan. Do plan on a WD45 some day, but too busy with the IH TD18s at the moment. (Nothing says fun like knocking trees out of the ground :) ) My most favorite tractor? The one I'm driving of course. |

I'm absolutely loving this thread! It's nice to see that it's ok with most of you to like other brands. I'm a true Allis fan, but if I can save a piece of steel in a fence row from going to the scrap yard... I don't care what color or brand it is. My Dad was raised on just about every major brand except for Farmalls. If I can help him relive his past on the dairy farm and let him share some stories from the old days by looking at old tractors, then my mission is complete. God Bless

I guess my favorite non AC is my Ferguson 40. It's a handy little tractor I use for lots of odd jobs around the place. I've had it for nearly 30 years and it's been very dependable. I used to run Fords, I imported a dozen or so from England in the 1970's when the exchange rate was in our favor. Really liked my 4000 SOS diesel, great baling tractor. Kept selling them as I needed the money for upgrading machinery. Someday I'd like to get an Oliver 77, they sound sooo smooth, an offset Ford, forget the number, and maybe a Ford 6000, ran one for a neighbor in the late '60's and just liked the way they looked and worked.

I guess it would be an Ollie for me. Not sure which model. The older Ford 1000 series were solid too. If it was going to be a new tractor, would most likely be a Kubota in the 50 HP range. I know, it's from Japan, but at least it's (close to)the right color.LOL!

I would have to say a IH 856 plowing with 5-18's, man, don't know how many 1000's of acres I plowed with that, sure was a fun at night cresting over a clay knoll and having the front-end just barely bouncing off the ground and seeing that flame shouting 12-18 inches out the top of the muffler.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I was almost born on a Farmall H, so have always been a Red fan, but always liked the Allis Chalmers C, WD, and WC that the neighbors had. Have a Farmall Super C and an Allis CA now.

While I am AC orange thru and thru ---- I must admit my favorite single tractor is the JD 4020. In "my time" (the 60's thru 80's) it is, in my opinion, the coolest and most complete tractor ever made. The power and versitility for a tractor that size is truely remarkable. I also love the looks and style of the machine. If I had $10k-$15k to spend - I would own one.
Having said that the AC WD 45 is a close 2nd. I have an AC WD 45 Diesel + an AC "C".
