been looking at the drawings, the snapring seems like an 'infernal' one.... maybe 2 slotted screwdrivers, to pry it up ,once you get it started, 'tease' it out of the slot ? Never had mine that far apart..... it looks easier than doing my taxes though..... 4 hrs labour AND I had to pay.....

I'm sure you are knowledgeable of this but, you should only do one side at a time. Put it all back together and then the other side.

Thanks Jay and Fred . I did the brakes when I pulled the final drive last year . Have the donor bull gear and bearings out now . Next up is the pinion shaft . So far , so good .

While a strong strap sling will support it, I made a steel one, bolts to the FD. Made it easier to get the right height and 'angles' to slide it back in.... I have an overhead beam, trolleys and chain hoists...make the job pleasant.... I will take pictures IF I can find the silly 'jig'...... Jay

About a year ago I found my D 15 has a bent rear axle shaft and a chipped bull gear tooth . I now have a good donor that I plan to put new seals , etc in and then swap the final drive out . I'm sure to have questions along the way . Thanks in advance !
