Have my engine upside down on the engine stand . Sure makes it easy to pull the oil pan . Rear main seal is very hard . Probably why it was leaking at high rpm . Anyone know where I can get a speedi sleeve for the crankshaft ? Thanks

wow that's a pretty oil pan. When you find the sleeve, you can 'practise' on 'Troy' here...lol. I just add oil 'as required'...too many minor leaks for me to worry about, specially since there's a LOT less seat time now.

Thanks Jay but I dunno . I'm hoping this will be my last "big" tractor job. Oil pan was off when I got this tractor so I hit it with a little primer before putting it back on . Crankshaft looks ok to me but if I can get a speedi sleeve I'd sure use it . Thanks for looking

My book says to apply a little lubriplate to the new rear main seal . Should I get some or will wheel bearing grease do ? Thanks

I have always been a fan of lubricating seals with whatever fluid they run in. whenever a mfgr suggests something else I have to think it's due to assembly time and they don't want a dry start. whatever you use, make sure it will melt fast once the oil hits it. I would be inclined to use assembly lube mixed with oil

Now that I have things kinda cleaned up I see the trans engine clutch shaft seals are leaking . Anyone changed them lately ? Looks like you remove these 4 bolts and pull cover to get to them ? Thanks !!

Another question . Anyone familiar with the tube that runs from the base of the oil filter to the oil pump cover on the back of the engine ? Mine's leaking . Has what's left of rubber packing grommets in the connection . Guy at NAPA had never seen one . Hoping Sandy Lake has some . Thanks !! Now that I've cleaned them some I see Imperial Flex on the cap .

Those grommets come in various sizes. My 8070 has them on various lines. Should be available from AGCO.
