Hello,
I just put new brakes on my CA, and for the brake spring I know the one end loops over the adjusting bolt, but does the other end hook around the square hole in the casting in front of the brake drum? And also, for a 1953 model, it would have the straight decal right? not one with the left side of the "A" in allis going down farther than the rest of the letters.

Decals should be black with A and S the same size as the other letters.

If you can get a helper, putting on the new spring is a pretty easy trick. I had an old heavy long screwdriver with a messed up tip. I cut a small slot in it and ran it through the spring and pushed the hook down to the slot. My helper then hooked the hook and pulled it into place.
