book says .010 HOT  ......... i normally do .012 cold .... .014 is OK to some.

Your book is different than what mine says.

Mine says .010" clearance at normal operating temp.

at .0010 ( 1 thou. ) would seem a little tight.

Engine at Normal Operating Temp.

Intake Valves at .009", Exhaust Valves at .015" HOT
