Allis 620 rectifier and voltage regulator problem

I bought a non functional Allis Chalmers 620 garden tractor. I'm putting the Onan CCKB together and need to replace the broken rectifier and voltage regulator. These two parts seem hard to find and pretty expansive. Has anyone replace them with something else? Is there a single module replacement available without too much modifications? Any help would be appreciated.

I just replaced one on my 4020 Ingersoll powered by an Onan P-220. $42.95 shipped, could've gone cheaper but this was recommended by many others. The exact same part $85.00 from the local dealer and other local sources. Initially a neighbor took one off his Onan-powered bandsaw mill, but I bought this one and returned his.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is the 2 pieces setup. I have a separate rectifier and voltage regulator. Has anyone done the conversion from the 2 pieces to a single module and what modifications need to be made?

I had to replace my stator, rectifier, and voltage regulator due to a deck fire from the previous owner. Your right, not cheap. Over $300 if I remember correctly. That was 8 years ago so I am sure prices have went up. I was doing a restoration so I did not go beyond factory parts. I’m sorry I cant help you with your question.

3rd wire ? hmm, I'd have to see a diagram of the setup.
My 'hunch' is that the stator has a ground wire, and 2 'outputs'. In electrical terms it's a 'center tapped' tranfomer.

---------> AC
|
|
---------> GND
|
|
---------> AC

Both AC terminals go to the 'rectifier/regulator' unit
GND is connected to ground

Some B&S engines have the GND connected to a stator mounting screw (under the flywheel), some don't have the 3rd connection , so having a wiring diagram is really helpful. I'm more familiar with B&S stuff, sigh, 33 years worth....but electrical is electrical...

great  that helps but need to see where thet 14 ga balck/white wire goes right of the connector labelled 'sol.'.

Ok, I did some 'surfing' and 'thinking'....
What I would do...
connect the 2 black wires from the stator to a 'rectifier/regulator' module
 AC terminals
then connect the 'rectifier/reg module' + terminal to the  white wire of the original 'rect'  module connector
disconnect and tape up the red wire from the stator
remove original 'reg' unit
tape up the white connector of the 'reg' unit.

in short.. remove 'reg' module and tape up those wires, replace the original 'rect' module with a 'rect/reg' module.

clear as mud ? 
any problems, I'll try to draw a picture...

Thanks Jay, I'll try this when I have a little bit of time. I had to put this project on hold until I finish remodeling my basement!!! BTW, the b/W wire goes to the ignition switch on the accessories position. Thanks a lot.

You can get this Bridge Rectifier which is good for 600 V / 400 A 
KCP 3506  2 wires go to alternator 1 to ground and 1 output to battery 
It is a common part in electronics and a solid state unit - may not need a heat sink but can be used with one . Cost from $4 to $10 - might need a zener diode also to bleed voltage over 13.6  but will work without also .
