Okay all of you powershift mechanics. What would it cost to go through the transmission? $10,000 if it was serious?

There's a chance that all it needs is to have the shift valve taken apart and cleaned.

It would be neat for someone on the page to have. Its the 2nd one I know of in NY. I think the price is a bit high still but maybe cash might talk.

WOW, this must be it, one of the long lost prototypes 7000 series with Bush Hog FWA.
If it wasn't so far away id be hauling today. Some collector on here better pick this up before it gets lost again or ends up on road construction crew pulling a packer and beats the heck out of it. |

how did they run the hydraulic axle? they require more GPM than the pump is capable of don't they? surely they didn't run it through the a spool valve. and it would only match maybe one or two gears. WE have two of those axles on an F2 and L2 but they split the flow from the hydro. this is gear drive. i'm really curious how they powered it and how it worked.

It was a long time ago, and sales did most of the work with Mud-hog, so I could be wrong. It was driven off the normal hydraulic pump (the 7000 series had a better hydraulic system then a lot of tractors of that era). As the name "Mud-Hog" implied, it was more of a way of working in mud than improving normal field performance (it probably hurt that). I think it was set up for slower speeds and when you were in a fast enough gear, it just free-wheeled. The place that I went to check on the prototype was in the vegetable field of Florida. They wanted to pull the vegetables out when they were ripe or they were needed on the market regardless of the mud or not. They had a field rotation worked out that would provide carrots (for instance) on a continuous basis. If they couldn't get the carrots out, and then replanted, it messed up their rotation.
