Just a couple stupid questions, are all the bolts around the outside edge tight?  Where the flanges clean before bolting it up?  Define a little?  all shafts and bearings have a very small amount of play in them.  are we talking thousands, or tenths of inches of play, and which dirrection are you talking?  Up and down, or in and out?

sure sounds like a bearing is out, or a really badly worn shaft.  It must be leaking oil too??  A 1/4" is way too much
