Question for you all, I haven’t had time to research but I have a 180XT that I picked up for a reasonable price that the engine is rusted badly internally. I haven’t dropped the pan yet to look at the crank. But based on the amount of rust on the lifter end of the pushrod I’m thinking it’s going to be bad. Found a 2900 out of a Combine that was a running engine and stored inside. From what I assume the engine would work but would need the front and rear covers swapped and I assume oil pump, and possibly injection pump depending on if the governors are different.
Am I thinking correctly? |

Injection pump is probably fine, but may need the low idle and high idle speeds adjusted, which is easy. WHICH 2900 engine and what model Gleaner combine and YEAR would be helpful.........

Sorry for the slow reply that engine sold, found another out of a M2 combine. I assume swap all parts from the tractor engine over and it should work?

I'd assume so, but you haven't told me what YEAR M-2 or WHICH 2900 engine. 120 HP was standard and 130 HP was an option in 1978 and newer.
