Last fall and last night while round baling hay after about three hours the door will not stay shut on the baler. I can switch sides and continue on but when I switch sides the hydraulic tie arm on the baler will drop and not stay up. I changed out the fittings on that side remote but that didn’t help. Is it a valve problem or a linkage problem? What do I need to check?

The only hold to the valve is the fit of spool to valve body. Other valve must be a tighter fit. A lot of bailers had a locking valve so tractor valve didn't have to hold gate shut. MACK

It sounds like the baler door is not latching. You didn't say what brand of baler. My Vermeer and New Holland have locks.
