I am looking to buy a 190xt series 3 but I don't know the serial number. It has the rounded fenders, not like a 200. I am wondering if anyone could tell me when they started making the series 3. It has a turbo. I am guessing this is a 68-69. Am I correct?

Series 3 190 XT starts at 23001 serial number and up. There were a couple hundred of them built in December of 1968, but basically say 1969 model and newer. A real series 3 has fenders like a 200. Could also be a legit series 3 but someone has installed the older fenders. Who knows after 50 years.

Its almost easier to presume that the stickers were what was added. I am having the guy send me serial tomorrow. I don't want to make the drive though for a non series 3. Thanks for the help.

That's the one I bid on at another consignment. Sorry, I did not get the serial number. A man I bought a 7045 from told me it was headed for another auction site

The hood and side panels are correct for s/n 19001 and up. The fenders are for s/n 19001 and lower. I'd guess the tractor is s/n 19001 and newer, still might not be 23001 which is a series 3. Fenders may have been a cab removed and correct fenders not used. Correct grille for s/n 19001 and up has no horizontal bars, just screen.

I have been finding other series 3s with the older fenders. They all had year around cabs. I wonder if they installed older fenders to get rid of all the Year Around cabs in stock??

They told us it was drove in. It started quickly and sounded good but they did not let it run long. PTO shift lever on the floor left side of seat. Not sure if that is significant because I don't know enough about that model. |

Appears to have the larger axles which would make it at least a series II. A measuring tape would confirm it as they are 3 1/4” if I remember correctly. I can measure mine to be sure. I’m with Dr Allis, may have had a cab and they slapped series I fenders on it. Serial number would tell the story. Nice looking tractor regardless.

Your 2nd picture of a 190xt ser. 3 with year-a-round cab actually has no fenders. What looks like fenders is provided by year-a-round and simply attach to the cab.

The part that I really don't like is that it has a white tach. From what I can gather, That means it's a pre 20599 tach. That puts the hours and authenticity into question.

I’m assuming your after a series III for the 4 pinion rear end? They may have been installed in late 68 near the end of production in series II tractors. That has been discussed here before. Mine is a 20346, near end of the series II production. I haven’t pulled the pto shaft to verify as Dr Allis suggested a few years ago. All diesel XT’s have a turbo so you can’t go by that. Nothing wrong with a series II if it ends up being that. Best all around tractor Allis built in the 60’s IMO. It does everything well for me.

the differential change was a 23001 and I thought the hyd pump changed - but was wrong - there were a few III's with the old style pump - but I haven't seen any. My guess is a 1977 ish.

After this many years - if its got the 3-1/4 axles, runs good , will kill the engine with the Power Director in high and main transmission in 4 th with the brakes , go for it,,
