My CA steering box the sprial gear brpke a tooth. I bought a suposed CA box its not has only one follower and the steering arm is smaller spline wound up putting a short arm steering arm on now I can mow but the steering is very limited. Is there any place that has a replacement spiral gear.

I believe that someone sold you a steering box for a C not a CA. The CA box has two following pins on the cross shaft. If you were close enough to come to my place I probably have part to get you back together. Shipping long oversize parts can get costly. I'm in Maryland.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

ya I know its a C part. I got from E bay no return and shipping was alot. was used part with CA wrot on the tag as soon as I recived it I was bummed its in great shape came from a closed shop. it kinda work with the short arm another bad purchase cant tell from photos and no part #s just really limits the steering angle. I'm in North Dakota. I try'ed locally but Allis Chalmers didn't sell well out here. No small tractors of any kind. We use a IH 1086 as a yard tractor. its to small for anything esle.

I have the spirial gear removed and taking to a machinest later this week hes out of town but don't have much hope of getting it fixed. If I could buy the correct one shipping cost is doable. Ill post a picture soon.

Dave... how about cutting the short arm and extending it a few inches ( cut and weld).. Then leave the C box on the tractor while you search for the CA gear ? ... C box might last quite a while if all your doing is mowing.

I've thought of
Doing that when I catch up with the grass. Right now I'm mowing a couple times a week. While the CA was down I was using a WD45 with a 3pt mower I'm just happy to get back on the CA. Mowing is all it ever does so it'll work. |
