Thanks again Steve. Impressed with how good our little friend runs. It rained here to day, thus, will put her to work next weekend. However, did run until hot and then adjusted timing for a smooth running engine. Here is another link if interested. Edited by CA13414 - 03 Aug 2025 at 8:10pm |

Finally was able to put our "little orange friend" to work. Ran spectacular and did not drop out and misfire after warming up.
With the rain these past weeks, some of the sand had washed down and into the lake. This despite all the catch basins and drain tile we have put in. With the CA and blade and harrow, was easy to pull up the sand from the water edge to fill the ruts and regrade. However, I didn't take a single picture.... FAIL! :'( |

After tightening up the final drive with repairs on the hand clutch, it was better, but there was still a clanking when on the road. Thus, as DiyDave mentioned, the "Eccentric Pins" that hold the rim tight keep coming loose. The shop manual, "...each eccentric pin must be fully turned to the right to be tight." I was not getting them turned fully to the right, thus would keep coming loose quickly when used. I finally was able get the job done with a 24' cheater bar and a 9/16" Female Plug Socket Edited by CA13414 - 16 Sep 2025 at 6:28pm |

![]() This worked awesome to get all the eccentric pins rotated fully to the right. It was not difficult with the cheater and working each one as I rotated the wheel and put each on top. No clunking on the highway!!! Thanks for all the advice and hints. Edited by CA13414 - 16 Sep 2025 at 4:54pm |

Next projects:
1) Take some the shims out of the PTO shaft and see if that tightens the play in the differential we have on the PTO and pulley. Hope it works as Chris/Sugarmaker was able to do. 2) Also need to work on the pulley seal which still leaks oil a bit. |

CA13414,
Just a note removing the PTO shims did tighten the drive system in the PTO. I ended up replacing the seal and putting the shims back in to allow the PTO to spin easily. Regards, Chris and Cheryl

Thanks Chris,
I think I will order a new seal for the PTO and the Pulley. Then remove the shims and hope it tightens up. Our is so loose, I can hear it when the PTO is engaged to run the hydraulics and 3-point lift. Just sounds like a gear that is about to jump a tooth and tear up the drive. Chris, the "Fire and Ice Poppers" were awesome! Basted them before they went on the smoker and halfway through cooking.

Well, I finally remove 3 shims between the PTO cover with the seals with the goal to remove the slack in the PTO and the drive gear. Only used PermaTex when I reassembled. This did help tremendously in the slack and noise and doesn't sound like it will jump a tooth anymore. I may need to put one shim back in.... since it is a bit tight with no slack. If I leave it tight, if that will be a problem?? Thoughts? The belt pulley shaft still has some slack with a bit of noise. I see in the shop manual the shims for that are inside the transmission housing. Thus, will not adjust that at this time. Dan Edited by CA13414 - 27 May 2026 at 9:38pm |

Chris, by the way, did make the poppers again this past weekend and basted them with Fire & Ice. Once again were awesome.
As well, it is just an awesome syrup on pancakes and waffles!! Job well done! Dan Edited by CA13414 - 28 May 2026 at 4:45am |

Added back two shims and that helped a ton. Now there is just slight slack.
I will run it a bit and recheck to see this loosens up a bit more. If not will add one more shim. Thanks for all the advice. Dan |
