Well Buck I don't admire the width of that road. But the surface looks in good shape to be adding another layer of asphalt. A lot hills and such here in California were I am. Making for the same type of "snake track roads". But just about all of them are at least 20 feet wide so with care vehicles can meet about anywhere. That looks like someone has to stop as far over as they dare so they could pass each other. But roads are not a priority to government here it take forever to get new asphalt.
Thank you always enjoy your pictures.

Monday_13-November-2023 G & L Farm Kenworth T880 #GL009 The big Blaw Knox is pushing him while he keeps pressure on the truck brakes to prevent the truck rolling away from the paver;.....they don't very much like it when you roll away from the paver and dump half-a-load of blacktop in front of it. Watch the paver operator's arm and hand and the height of the dump bed in this series of photos. |

First of all love all the pictures of the cool trucks and things you see out and about. There are some real gems there!!! Second, the Dixie truck is NOT a T800. The T800 had a much more sloped hood. This is a W900L? And the only reason I question if it is the L variant or not is most of the short hood W900 ‘s didn’t have the second set of cab clearance lights. Therefore making this one a W900L. Very cool truck nonetheless and would love to know what’s under the hood of it.

Monday_23-December-2024 1946 Chevrolet 1-1/2-ton Truck Past three owners: Brian West = new owner 2024 - truck 78-yrs-old Fred Rexroat(1956) = owned the truck 50-years = 1974-2024 Roy Bernard(1919-1975(55)) = owned the truck until 1974 - truck 28-yrs-old; unclear whether Roy is first owner or not. Roy Bernard is brother to 1st National Bank Lester Bernard Unlike most of these trucks which have multi-piece tube-type "Widowmaker" wheels, this truck is equipped with single-piece 19.5" tubeless tires/wheels. Awful as it may look, clean out that flat tire, wire-brush the rim, grease up the beads, air it up, and drive 'er 'til the wheels fall off; you can't beat a BIAS-ply tire for durability and longevity. Standing there at the truck, you can tell that these doors once said something, a company name and maybe a phone number or some State or Interstate Commerce Commission numbers; I thought photographing would bring it out and make it readable, but I can't make out anything. This cab has all the comforts and conveniences one would need to take 'er plum' 'cross the U.S.A. You've got to love that speedometer and those big gauges, clearly labeled in big bold American English; I bet at 100-miles-per-hour she is like floating on a cloud; I bet there ain't a quiver in that steering wheel. Notice that stand-off that puts the non-cancelling turn-signal switch out there flush with the steering wheel so you don't have to be reaching in under there to operate it. The dimmer switch is in the floor - where they belong. Just visible beneath the steering wheel spoke, top-center of the dash, is a crank-handle that I believe will crank open the bottom edge of the windshield and allow a ton of refreshing breeze to pour in the cab. 37° 1'38.73" North Parallel - 85° 3'26.67" West Meridian 1,033' Above Sea Level

Sunday_29-December-2024 Eastbound "Dixie" Kenworth T800 #23254 Owned by Dixie Trucking of Birmingham, Alabama I don't know what that is he is hauling; but, it can't be very heavy as it hasn't even began to flatten the camber out of the trailer. The T800 was first available in 1987 and is still built today. I found photos of a 2004 T800 that is pretty much identical to this truck with the two sets of cab-lights. Variations are not year model specific and determining the year model without a VIN is nigh impossible. You can't go by the windshield as I see all three styles scattered across the years. Photo taken through the glass of a moving vehicle in the rain. 38° 01' 49.31" North Parallel - 84° 42' 8.26" West Meridian 976' Above Sea Level KY9002/Bluegrass Parkway__Milepost #69.5 Woodford County - Kentucky Just West of the Huntertown Overpass; in the shadow of a huge water tower that is on the North side.

In the 70s/80s/90s, no truck was complete until Taylor of Louisville worked his pinstriping magic on it. I have seen him do trucks in the parking lot of Taylor County Stockyards and also on slow days at the Gaddie-Shamrock quarry at Zion. |

1st Generation International S1700 1978-1986 Saturday_14-May-2022 Wallace Wilkinson Agricultural Expo Center Liberty - Casey County - Kentucky Saturday_10-May-2025 Except for one small detail and a bit of damage to the right-side chain rail, this truck is virtually unchanged since I photographed it on these same grounds in May of 2022; the little "I-H Gear" wing-vent decals have been replaced with "A-C Gear" decals; and, the marker-light has gotten knocked off of the right fender. 37°18'41.74" North Parallel 84°56'47.76" West Meridian 793' Above Sea Level

Saturday_09-August-2025 2008 GMC C7500 Cattle Truck Parked beside KY Hwy 80 East in front of Dairy Queen. This was a common sight fifty years ago and rare as hen's teeth now. The cattle rack is most likely either a Bean or a Cain; in any event, it is at least forty years old as it has been that long since anyone has made them. I don't care much for the truck under it; plastic mirrors, plastic door handles, wimpy car wipers, plastic cab lights, no wing vents, plastic rocker switches, and that pathetic aerodynamic windshield such that you can't see a thing when it rains; a LTL9000 Ford, or a 359 Peterbilt, or a W900 Kenworth would be a much better choice and would be something you looked forward to driving instead of dreading the next trip. Three "359" Petes and an Autocar As Seen at Renfro Valley Appalachian Harvest Festival__2006 I-75 Exit #62 US Hwy 25 - Renfro Valley - Rockcastle County - Kentucky Saturday_07-October-2006 The 1952 Autocar DC-102 belongs to Johnny Brennan of Paris, Kentucky. As best I can determine, all three Peterbilts are "359"s. Each has different head-lights and different breathers; and, there is a wee bit of difference in each grille. The split windshields differ a bit as well. The wipers are every which way on all three. The nearer truck, the red and silver one, gives the illusion that it has a taller cab and windshield; however, I believe that is due to a difference in the visors. If you are going to Renfro Valley, it does no good to wash and black the tires; Renfro Valley is and always was a swamp; I have been there when several big tractors spent their day log-chaining people in and out; and, some that don't know how to drive, slip and slide and crash into others; more than a few have returned to their vehicle to find a fender knocked off. 37° 23' 1.07"N 84° 19' 43.12"W Elevation 928'

That 8100 IH, looks to have had its early life as a single axle ‘tractor’ for Estes Express Lines.

Big OshKosh Dump Truck As Seen on Aaron Roberts Tractor Trail Ride_2024 KY Hwy 80 East - Mile-Marker #34 South side of KY Hwy 80 in Pulaski County KY Hwy 80 East - Shopville - Pulaski County - Kentucky Saturday_08-June-2024 Isn't she beautiful ! I spent hours and wore my eyes out looking at pictures of OshKosh Trucks and found nary a one with a windshield like this one; I really like the design and think it far superior to any curved glass. Can any of you guys shed some light as to which model and when made ? Thanks.

Hilt's Garage 389 Peterbilt Wrecker Hauling a Wrecked Wrecker As Seen on Aaron Roberts Tractor Trail Ride_2024 Westbound on KY Hwy 80 East Between Aaron's Driveway and Hawk Road North side of KY Hwy 80 in Pulaski County KY Hwy 80 East - Shopville - Pulaski County - Kentucky Saturday_08-June-2024 The Wrecker is heading Eastbound at Mile-Marker #34 and he's got her in the wind. Demolishing a Wrecker is a common occurrence when lifting and retrieving heavy wreckage; it looks like they have done a pretty good number on that white Wrecker. Hilt's is headquartered in Abingdon, Virginia. He is 190-miles from home. Scroll sideways through THE PHOTOS for a picture of this same Wrecker lifting a Bulldozer. MORE of this Wrecker lifting the Bulldozer In the linked photos, there is a Roll-back visible in the scene; apparently, the Dozer has broke it's moorings and slid off the Roll-back = a common occurrence when metal tracks are on slick metal beds and not sufficiently anchored. I wish I could have been better prepared and better situated (a bit farther away) for taking these photos; as it is, he topped the horizon and BDBDBDBDBDRRROOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! he was gone. I had to brace myself to keep from being sucked out of my seat. The whirlwind sucked the cap off the head of one of those guys ahead and it went 160-feet in the air before settling in the grass on the other side of the highway; a bird built a nest in it while it was in the air.

Paris - Bourbon County - Kentucky Saturday_26-July-2025 W900 Kenworth Tandem Coal Truck #28 Owned by: Carl R. Johnson of Cynthiana, Kentucky This is a Coal Truck. Note how much taller the sides are than that of a rock/gravel truck; Coal is much lighter than rock. Note the crossmember above the tailgate, always absent on a rock bed. Also note the small center door incorporated in the tailgate for dumping Coal precisely into an auger hopper. Load that bed to the gun-wales with rock and it would be far too much for a tri-axle, let alone a tandem. This bed can also serve as a rock bed so long as you don't overload it; note the tailgate chains for spreading rock. |
