1970s GMC 4000 Flatbed

I like the way the truck anchors the scene; what do you think ?

Still a common sight around here. Almost a large pickup sharing the same cab with the smaller breathren. Probably a 350 with a Clark, or Spicer five speed, and two speed Eaton rear.Could also be a 366 engine but the 350 was much more common.

See a lot of old tractors, wagons, implements, and trucks as yard ornaments around here too. Most have a history with the associated farm they are located at from years gone by.

Fell from the roof of a FLT at 19, will carry that back damage to my grave.  Road Commanders, AKA Road Commodes by mechanics years ago.

That's what I drove White Freightliner. Back then they was playing with turbine power, that was something to see, look in the grill and see the trailer and the big AC powered truck pass you going across 80 in PA up the mountain like you was setting still.

First trucks I learned to drive. No power steering. Hauled grain off farm. Had to be real good at backing up blind Sind and around obstacles. If not, gets tiring real fast

Wikipedia says built 1976-1986; however, I see several for sale listed as 1988 models.

I see "FLT"s with single round head-lights, dual round head-lights, and dual rectangular head-lights; I can't find any information as to which years had what head-lights.

You are correct on the "turnover". I've pulled several back onto the wheels. Always a lot of damage. They are lightweight, but very unstable unless very hard, level ground.
