The engine/head were rebuilt and was never reassembled.
I have a few buckets of bolts and parts. I will have to hone off the surface Of the cylinders and turn it over. I need info on which is the best manual for engine reassembly Where fo I get it? What is the best way to get the studs out if the block and head. I have a few pictures. Just not sure how to upload them right now I will load them to photobucket sometime today. |

Agco manual for the WD and WD 45 would be the best, IMHO.
Stud remover should get them out, or vice grips, close to the bottom of stud. If they are real tight heat with propane torch, to about 250 F and melt a beeswax candle against the bottom threads, let cool, and try again.

The data plate appears to be installed on the right side of the operators station on the outside of the enclosure. (Black plate) There will be a D number on the plate . With that number we can determine the year. Ours is a 1956, Serial D-4997.

thanks Gary, I am going to put it all back together one way or the other. just thought it would be nice to see what year the grader is. round frame and tilt front wheels, that might help me isolate it.
again, thanks to everyone for the input. |

Hi Mark. I would assume that this grader would be from the early 1950's: WD engine, no hydraulic turn mech. for the rotation of the blade and a smaller gas tank. What is interesting is that it appears to have the tilt mech. on the front wheels. Ross.

In looking at the parts book, the machine upgrades took place after serial 3370. This would include the WD-45 engine, improved wheel lean as there was also a mod to the moldboard which shows a welded and non welded mounting ball prior to serial number 2477. After 2477 the ball on the circle arm would have been welded rather than a separate part. 2477 to 3370 serial range would make it a 52-53 vintage.

Mark, look on top of the hydraulic control box. See if there's a plate on there with some numbers.

Good morning. There should be a I.D. plate on the hydraulic pump also.( the pump is driven off of the crankshaft pulleys at the rear of the grader. ). Ross.

You might try to remove some of the paint on this tag in order to see if there is some additional information under the paint. Careful, these tags may be aluminum and hard to clean so that you do not erase any information that may exist. Ross.

Ross I think you're right about it being early 50's. But the tilt steering I didn't think was available till after 55.
