Met Gilbert during the "Ride Home" tractor ride to Milwaukee in 2005.  He drove his D17 wheatland.  He was a true gentleman.  Enjoyed getting to know him.  So sorry to hear of his passing.  He will be sadly missed.  Condolences to his family!

Met Gilbert during "The Ride Home" in 2005.  The caravan  originated in Sand Lake Mi.  It included an evening ride through a portion of the AC factory and ended the next day in Union Grove.  Gilbert drove his D17 wheatland.  He was easy to get to know.  A wealth of knowledge.   A true gentleman.  He will be greatly missed.  Condolences to his family.

Gilbert shared a ton of rotobaler knowledge with a lot of newbies like me. My condolences to the Vust family. It is a sad day for them and for the entire AC family.

Nan, please accept our condolences from the Upper Midwest A-C Club. Gilbert was a great man. Kind, gentle, respectable, and unforgettable. His life ended too soon.

Now Gilbert can be with our Lord and operate any and all tractor and pieces of equipment and won't have to worry about repairs. There is only one Gilbert.....and man that explained to me why firetrucks are red...a story he learned in school, as he explained it to me to years ago.

He was a very dedicated man when it come to friends and the Allis-Chalmers community.

Gilbust Vust will always be remembered....

Ellie and I have tried to remember when we last saw and spoke to Gilbert. It was at either the Plain City, Ohio GOTO or the La Porte Indiana GOTO. During an AC open mike session at the 2007 GOTO in Maine, I made the mistake of referring to Gilbert as the OWNER of an AC museum in Portage La Prairie. He took great pleasure in correcting me, several times. We always looked forward to seeing and talking with him.

Our prayers for his family and for Nan.   Bob Davids
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not sure.

Indeed, he was one of the greats when it came to A-C knowledge. We are thankful for the knowledge he conveyed to us all. RIP

He was truly a great man. Several years ago he gave me a signed blank check to buy his 6-12 and plow at an auction. I got it bought for him and he and Nan came to my place later to pick it up.

He to taught me why fire engines are red,
"Because they have eight wheels and four people on them, and four plus eight makes twelve, and there are twelve inches in a foot, and one foot is a ruler, and Queen Elizabeth was a ruler, and Queen Elizabeth was also a ship, and the ship sailed the seas, and there were fish in the seas, and fish have fins, and the Finns fought the Russians, and the Russians are red, and fire trucks are always “Russian" around, so that's why fire trucks are red."

While I did not know him personally I have listened to his encyclopedic knowledge of AC equipment in wonder. I was looking forward to hearing him again at Hutch on Saturday but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. My condolences.
