It is with sad regrets that we tell you Gilbert Vust passed away this afternoon. A well known A-C collector and enthusiast who will be sorely missed. He had been hospitalized with head injuries after a fall at his shop this past Saturday.  He did not regain consciousness and was in no pain throughout his hospitalization.  At this point, no services have been set in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Sad news.  I met him several years ago when I attended the Hutch gathering when it was still at the farm.  I guess we can only hope we go doing something we enjoy.  Still hard on the family and friends.  RIP Gilbert.

Prayers for the family from Oklahoma. I met Gilbert for the first time this summer at Hutch. He seemed like a great guy, and was very friendly. Knew Roto-Balers better than anyone I know.
As a side note...I recorded him speaking while he was giving the Roto-Baler seminar this year. I wasn't really sure why, but I had this weird, like 6th sense, sort of uneasy feeling telling me to do it. I went ahead and did it. Now I know why.
It's guys like him that have forgotten more about A-C than many of us will ever know.

When Gilbert was at one of The Allis Connection shows, he sang the United States
National Anthem and then sang the Canadian National Anthem. What a Class act! God Bless all his friends and family. Gilbert will be greatly missed.

We're so sorry to hear about Gilbert's passing. Our sincere condolences to the Vust family and friends at his loss. He was a very knowledgeable man who did not hesitate to share his AC expertise. Gilbert and his friend Willie traveled from Portage la Prairie to southwestern Pennsylvania in October 1999 to purchase a Model T combine from us. We visited with him over the years at various Gatherings, but specifically at the 2004 GOTO in his home town. Gilbert will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this sad time.

The thing I will remember the most about Gilbert is what he told the crowd when he was doing the Roto-Baler seminar at Hutch this year, what he considered the 3 biggest "boobs", problem machines A-C ever produced.
1. The No.10 Roto-Baler
2. The RC tractor
3. The All-Crop 100

While I don't agree with the 3rd one, I always think of him and smile when I see one of those 3 things.

Met Gilbert during "The Ride Home" in 2005.  The caravan  originated in Sand Lake Mi.  It included an evening ride through a portion of the AC factory and ended the next day in Union Grove.  Gilbert drove his D17 wheatland.  He was easy to get to know.  A wealth of knowledge.   A true gentleman.  He will be greatly missed.  Condolences to his family.

Nan, please accept our condolences from the Upper Midwest A-C Club. Gilbert was a great man. Kind, gentle, respectable, and unforgettable. His life ended too soon.

Now Gilbert can be with our Lord and operate any and all tractor and pieces of equipment and won't have to worry about repairs. There is only one Gilbert.....and man that explained to me why firetrucks are red...a story he learned in school, as he explained it to me to years ago.

He was a very dedicated man when it come to friends and the Allis-Chalmers community.

Gilbust Vust will always be remembered....

Ellie and I have tried to remember when we last saw and spoke to Gilbert. It was at either the Plain City, Ohio GOTO or the La Porte Indiana GOTO. During an AC open mike session at the 2007 GOTO in Maine, I made the mistake of referring to Gilbert as the OWNER of an AC museum in Portage La Prairie. He took great pleasure in correcting me, several times. We always looked forward to seeing and talking with him.

Our prayers for his family and for Nan.   Bob Davids

He to taught me why fire engines are red,
"Because they have eight wheels and four people on them, and four plus eight makes twelve, and there are twelve inches in a foot, and one foot is a ruler, and Queen Elizabeth was a ruler, and Queen Elizabeth was also a ship, and the ship sailed the seas, and there were fish in the seas, and fish have fins, and the Finns fought the Russians, and the Russians are red, and fire trucks are always “Russian" around, so that's why fire trucks are red."
