That looks like the same early PTO as on the 38 B 751 that Gary and I restored last winter. His had the oil level stencils on the bull gear pans too. If you look at the filler cap location on the tranny case. I bet its like B751. Sometime a little later the filler neck was cast into the tranny case a little differently. I guess you could say the early 38 B were still in the experamental stages of what was to become standard later on. They are just one step away from the 37 experimental with the Waukesha engine. Those early 38s with their differences make them as interesting to me as a 37. Finding a complete one with all its original bits and pieces that were only used for a short time in early 38 makes restoring one right a challenge.

The pulley - PTO for the B is an early pulley (1) without the belt pulley attached, and (2) without the lobes to run a hyd pump. The place where the hyd would normally fit is a round type cup.
These type of PTO Belt Pulley's may be somewhat rare since when the hydrallic's came out these type were replaced with the later PTO's Pulleys so that the Hyd could be added. Basically when we replaced one we scrapped the old one.

it looks kinda like not much of a parts tractor with the gas tank and tin all banged up and the head off.... I wouldn't pay more than a couple hundred bucks for it, and that is if scrap is up. Are it for sale?

So is that a 39? I don't think I have seen a gap in a serial number like that before. Tom, are the front wheels a 5 bolt? Any idea what the engine number is?

Charlie, I thought it looked like a '39 too. I just wasn't gonna rain on it any more than I did already. I thought it looked like B13303......

Serial numbers were hand stamped. Probly came at shift change. (:^D
I have at least two of the power take off units out here with the round core plugs. Might be another. Let me know when they become rare.

My '39 B doesn't have the power take off shaft or the belt pulley shaft.. I'll try picture later ......... haven't had success posting them lately.

Serial number is B313 303. Here are some photos. You can call Bobby...."
I think the guy believes that he has something special, but it is just an early B I think.

Yeah,
The fellow sent me the pics and email asking if this was something "special" as the owner seemed to think..Told him the "experts" here said not really and I figured $200 or so...
