I need your opinions on them. The main purpose would be tillage, but to pull our equipment it would have to be turned up to at least 190hp. Would the motor and drive train take it? Do they have any major problems? What would it take to add a 3rd set of remotes? Also what would one to expect to pay for a low hour 8050 FWA?

i do have an 18 ft plow disk, that required my 7080! it was turning 200 hp, but could pull on the high side of the PD tranny!

I've heard a lot of guys say that engine will run 200HP all day. Just keep the RPM's the same. I don't know about the 8050 drivetrain but I would think it would be ok. Is the frontend the same as 8070?

They will typically hold together at around 200 Hp.  8070 may be a better way to go though.

Are you looking to replace your 1586? A 150hp fwa will put perform a 200hp 2wd almost anyday. I have a 7060 and 7080 turning 210hp and always have plenty of power traction is my issue, I pull a 26ft disk and 24ft field cultivator without trouble. My 7040 at 140 will pull them just fine too.

Yes if the price is right, this would replace the 1586.

To add a third set of remotes you would need $2200 for the kit from AGCO, or $850 from a salvage yard. I just bought a set for mine. Looks to be a pretty simple operation.

The engine and driveline will last longer at 152 HP than 190 HP and that's a fact. FWA tractor engines never last as long as a regular 2WD engine because the slippage is much less and the engine pulls down, where a 2WD will spin the rear wheels more easily making the engine's load a bit lighter. If for some reason you choose to ignore the warning, be sure to remove the muffler and install a muffler eliminator to drop exhaust temps by 100 degrees.

I use an add on remote that works well. It plugs it into an existing hydraulic outlet and the hydrualic lever will operate two remotes either at the same time or independently, selected by two toggle switches in the cab.
 
If you really want to crank it up to 200 hp I would suggest to go with an 8070 in the first place.
 
I doubt running 200hp through the powershift would be a problem. The only problem with the powershift is it's getting hard to find some parts if something goes wrong. 
 
The hard part will be finding a low hour 8050 or 8070. I'd say a clean low hour one will start in the $25,000 area and go up from there. Anything cheaper is going to need some work or have quite a few hours on it.

Find an 8070 fwd, having operated both a 1586 and a 8070, I'm gonna suggest that after a few hours you will be happy to drive the IH over a cliff. It will easily out pull a 1586, and be so much easier to operate and service. A lot more comfortable and fuel efficent. 8050 is a far better tractor than a 1586 too, but for the extra cash, find a 8070, youll be pleased. You wont need to turn up the pump either, Ive never seen an 8070 at rated, they pull real strong, my 2 cents, Trev.

The guy I farmed with has a good running 1486 that did all the heavy work until I bought my 8050.  The first time he did tillage with the Allis he told me you just couldn't hear the engine labor, he seemed to be complimenting the cab and engine, it's quiet to run and at 165hp it never labors much anyway.  It's a good old tractor.
