Fluids look perfect. Put in new fuel. Put in new spark plugs. It turns over very well but doesn’t fire. Next step carburetor? Edited by Derricks - 18 Aug 2024 at 12:44pm |

Check spark. Pull coil wire from cap and hold end 1/4 inch from block while cranking. Should jump a blue flame. If no spark won't matter what you do to carb.

Fuel+air, intake... compression, ignition, fire... timing. If you have all these, and it still won't start, it's because you don't have all those...

Are you sure you don't have spark? Sometimes it's hard to see. Try it after dark to see for sure.

....he says it doesn't "fire". That doesn't mean it don't have spark. He needs to prove it does first.

Air, Fuel, Compression and Sparks are required to run.
1. CHECK FOR SPARK AT COIL WIRE; pull wire from dist cap center, hold 3/16" - 1/4" from ground (cylinder head is good ground) and run starter.
2. Check for sparks on at least 2 plug wires; hold 1 at a time same distance from ground and run starter. 3. Remove plug in bottom of carburetor; does clean gas run out.? It should, old dirty gas won't run well. Reinstall plug. If these 3 check out, remove air inlet hose from carburetor inlet, set throttle 1/2 or full and pull choke out, crank engine 15 seconds, does it attempt to fire.? |

I didn't see anyone mention the condenser as a possible culprit.

Any luck getting it to fire?
Assuming you’ve poured/sprayed gas into carb while engine rolls over? If gas put into carb & still No fire, then could be many things? Mouse chewed wires? Aged brittleness wires? Bad electrical contacts, components~ coil? Points, distributor cap, ignition switch???? Verify that coil has electricity. If no electricity with ignition switched on, then run a hot wire from battery to coil and roll engine over by starter. |
