Severe drought

Wow. We’ve had nothing but rain all summer

Pretty dry at my place but several big thunderstorms have helped a lot,got 1/4 inch last evening.Over at Elkton Thursday it looked burnt up.

It’s hard to believe how spotty Michigan has been. We rarely go 36 hours without rain. First cutting yields sucked because May and first part of June were so hot and dry, ever since it doesn’t quit raining long enough to get hay done. I still have 30 acres of first cutting to do.

I have no clue how my corn is going to turn out!

15 to 20miles separates the have and have nots around here. Neighbor has a farm that had only 2 inches of rain since planting. Grass hay fields are only producing 1 3x3x8 per acre or less. Alfalfa seems to find a little moisture somewhere but is thin and short on hills. Corn and beans look surprisingly good for the rain we have had but the combine will tell the whole story. Guys with wheat were happy, apparently it true that wheat like dry weather. One thing that really throws a person off is a few years ago we had 2 years back to back where we we in the top 5 for record rain and now go to dry. The conversation all summer when looking at the crop included if we would only get an inch of rain. It's in God's hands. The crop will be what he gives us. Sometimes he amazes us.

Boy, I wish I could send you guys all the damn rain we got!  As a matter of fact, I'd send you all the Mosquitoes no extra charge as well. It hasn't stop raining here since the week after July 4th!  The bugs will carry you away!!  Feels like typical FL. weather. Hot, Humid, Muggy, Buggy, and uncomfortable. Even Lucas our 6 mo. old Collie doesn't want to go out! He rather be in the A/C being a lounge lizard......  (can't say I blame him!)

Here in Ohio we have had 4.8" of rain this week it was dry in July but August has had rain

8.3” of rain since May 1st here in central Wisconsin. Got about 1/3 of the hay I should have, terrible year for crops here. Seems like the rain spilt just as it was about to get here. Had some 2nd crop I left on the field because it was so short and thin that the rake wouldn’t pick it up.

Clay that’s exactly the way I see it here, except I watch it on the local radar as the rain splits and goes around our area. Darnedest thing, a little rain north and south of us.

We had 2.57” of nice gentle rain since 11 am yesterday and very light wind. So thankful for every drop.

.56 for the month of September corn and beans are dieing not maturing here. Been dry since Easter.

central/east central KS.this is not 100% for our farm but every rain event seemed to be very spotty and this summer was abysmal.  we have 1 field of early no till beans that might make something in a few spots but otherwise going to be a short harvest.  somehow we had some early dryland corn that made 100 bu but only 91 acres.  that 2 weeks of heatdome really zapped us here.

Hay yields in northeast central Indiana are about 30-40 percent less for the year. No rain in may really hurt. We have .12 inches of rain for September. 2nd driest September ever so far. May get some rain tomorrow but it is too late. Bean harvest is well on the way though. Not sure about yields. I sympathize with lack of rain.
