Here in Page County Va we are 12”-15” inches below average rainfall. We are burn up dry. Only 2 fields had a second cutting of hay a month ago. No rain is predicted in the near future. A lot of other counties in the state are in bad shape. Any other states out there in a drought?

I’m about a hundred miles northeast of you in Washington County Maryland. I don’t know how much we are “down”, but on a yearly basis the average is 42 to 46 inches. Since January 1, we have received 16.9 inches. June gave us 3.2”. The other months have been ≈2”+-. The orchard grass has browned off. Tonnage and nutrition will be down with the next cutting.

Town next to our farm had the most rain in all of North America in the month of July per the National Weather Bureau. 21". We got close to that- want some? We always finished 1st cutting by July 4th. Still working on "1st cut"!!

I’ve been extremely dry all season I got a buddy that lives 4 hours east of me that complains how wet he is.   Half a crop of 1st cutting most of the second cutting grass doesn’t pay to cut its so short.   Last year baled 1600 round bales I’m slightly over 700 this year.

It’s hard to believe how spotty Michigan has been. We rarely go 36 hours without rain. First cutting yields sucked because May and first part of June were so hot and dry, ever since it doesn’t quit raining long enough to get hay done. I still have 30 acres of first cutting to do.

I have no clue how my corn is going to turn out!

It was really dry here late June through July. Rained almost 6 inches starting 8-5 through 8-13. Should get the beans across the finish line, not sure if it was soon enough to do the corn any good or not? It's always something in this business.

15 to 20miles separates the have and have nots around here. Neighbor has a farm that had only 2 inches of rain since planting. Grass hay fields are only producing 1 3x3x8 per acre or less. Alfalfa seems to find a little moisture somewhere but is thin and short on hills. Corn and beans look surprisingly good for the rain we have had but the combine will tell the whole story. Guys with wheat were happy, apparently it true that wheat like dry weather. One thing that really throws a person off is a few years ago we had 2 years back to back where we we in the top 5 for record rain and now go to dry. The conversation all summer when looking at the crop included if we would only get an inch of rain. It's in God's hands. The crop will be what he gives us. Sometimes he amazes us.

East-central Mo, was a good spring, done planting 926 acres ofcorn and beans by May 4. We were dry through June but got a couple small timely rains. July 1 we got 1.7 inches that saved the corn. Actually raining right now, should be enough to finish out my 4.2 beans. Wish everyone the best.

Boy, I wish I could send you guys all the damn rain we got!  As a matter of fact, I'd send you all the Mosquitoes no extra charge as well. It hasn't stop raining here since the week after July 4th!  The bugs will carry you away!!  Feels like typical FL. weather. Hot, Humid, Muggy, Buggy, and uncomfortable. Even Lucas our 6 mo. old Collie doesn't want to go out! He rather be in the A/C being a lounge lizard......  (can't say I blame him!)

8.3” of rain since May 1st here in central Wisconsin. Got about 1/3 of the hay I should have, terrible year for crops here. Seems like the rain spilt just as it was about to get here. Had some 2nd crop I left on the field because it was so short and thin that the rake wouldn’t pick it up.

It took me many years to figure out why our farm is so dry and others in the area get rain.....
When the TV weather people draw  their maps, they use wax crayons.  Seems like they draw a circle around my farm.

Clay that’s exactly the way I see it here, except I watch it on the local radar as the rain splits and goes around our area. Darnedest thing, a little rain north and south of us.

Storm blew through Friday night. Those that got rain received up to 4" and flash flood warnings. We watched it split around us again and all we got was a light show and funnel clouds

This is only the second good measurable rain since April. Had .08” back in late August but that’s pretty much it. Most farmers have chopped their corn to get some feed since there is no chance of shelling corn. Unless you had irrigation systems, nothing grew but weeds.

It's still raining here and has only slowed up long enough to walk the dog.  We have trees falling down because the ground is so saturated.  Sounds like you didn't get much from that storm Rob. I guess we were right in the crosshairs of that tropical storm and she ain't goin' away yet. She's stalled right above us. That's just swell.........Thumbs Down

central/east central KS.this is not 100% for our farm but every rain event seemed to be very spotty and this summer was abysmal.  we have 1 field of early no till beans that might make something in a few spots but otherwise going to be a short harvest.  somehow we had some early dryland corn that made 100 bu but only 91 acres.  that 2 weeks of heatdome really zapped us here.

Being on the other side of the country, AC720man's drought and Steves being saturation is mind boggling after I looked and only 300 miles apart.

I am very aware of mountain uplift making clouds drop moisture .  Over bigger hills here rainfall drops 1 inch from the average each mile east you go from the top of the coastal Santa Lucas mountain range to the Temblor range that forms the western edge of the California Central Valley. But if I am wet the area east of me is wet looking at averages. Anyway both of you have my sympathy I very well understand both extremes. In 2022 I had 1/2 of normal at 10 inches, in 23 it was right near 60 inches. Both have there own problems.

Hay yields in northeast central Indiana are about 30-40 percent less for the year. No rain in may really hurt. We have .12 inches of rain for September. 2nd driest September ever so far. May get some rain tomorrow but it is too late. Bean harvest is well on the way though. Not sure about yields. I sympathize with lack of rain.

Really concerned that we will have enough hay to get us to next spring. We have been feeding since late July. What hay is for sale is bringing a premium price. Recent rain is too late for additional hay crop although it should help with pasture growth.
