Ok I was asked to start a thread on this truck project. Its not home yet, maybe in a few days. 
Saw the add in the local tractor show newsletter. Checked it out and here is what friend Jim and I found:

Stored up on blocks for 70 years by the same family! Moved one time 20 years ago to the current spot.
Last time it was on the road was 1952 ish, about the same time I was born. Truck was about 20 miles from me. This 1932 Model AAB was used in a local well drilling operation to carry pipe and water tank. 

The owner and I seemed to hit it off and he is a shirt tail relations to Jim too. We looked it over, took a bunch of pictures, thanked the owner and left. Since then I did a bunch of research on the net. Talked to everybody I new and made a offer on the truck. As normal we negotiated some. Friend John a Model A guy went to look at it again yesterday. and after lots of looking we came to a agreement on the price. 
These working trucks of this size and type are not too common. Probably about like a Edsel Station wagon. Not many made and not kept or sought after. As compared to a Deuce coupe car.

Dual rears, I think they are 7.00-20's yea 7 of them!

The cab, compact, 4 speed (check box) non syncro, e brake and dump controls. Battery is under drivers floor board, gas tank under the non stock seat bottom.

Yea 65K miles on that seat.

Turn signal switch I dont think this is factree?

Thanks! It will be another journey. I plan to share some of the trip with you folks too. All new to me. I have been stuck in the 50's. We are stretching a little here. But these are relatively simple much like a tractor. I like the idea of low complexity. At my stage in life simple is better!

Steve, Folks, 
Some first ideas on this project:

1. Get it out where people can see it. (Hope there will be some interest)
2. Service it to be running and moving/stopping safely. Not planning a full refurb. clean and paint as I usually do. This might remain somewhat as it is.
3. Try to have some fun along the way, meeting new folks and opening some new doors in life.
4. Trailer it to some events for show and tell. (even if static display) Its a good story.
5. If I could drive it to our local antique equipment shows within 40 miles within the next 2 years and not break the bank It will have met my expectations.
6. Meet some new friends that may help me along the way. 
7. Long term goals = None! Its just a day at a time. 
8. Maybe the kids, grandkids, or great grandkids will have some fun with the truck at some point, even if its just to set in the shade next to it.
9. Could use as part of our hobby business promotion too.

They are a neat old truck. I have a 1933 BB with a wrecker boom on it and it gets tons of looks and comments. They aren't much for travelling any distance since they go about the speed of a Model T only a lot more growly.

I love it! Old trucks have a cool factor that’s hard to understand. When you start thinking about how they were used, the roads they were on, and the folks that drove them, puts my mind in another place. I was lucky enough to find an old Dodge a year ago that now occupies a bay in the garage. Long term goal is to use it some around the farm. Glad to see a survivor that’s not hacked up!  Thank you! Not sure this one will need a DOT sticker?? I am not up on those rules? 
There is some type of weird cool factor about dirt moving equipment! Maybe from spending too much time in the sand box as a kid? Also my Uncles sand, gravel and lime business, planted some seeds too. I rode with him when he delivered gravel and lime. 
I wasn't real excited about the dump bed, but its growing on me. It is also part of the story of what this truck was 90 yeas ago!

This may not be a frame up resto. May just keep the barn find look, But would like it to start, move, and stop. Even getting to that point will be a new adventure for me. Will be spending a lot more time over on the Ford Barn Forum too.

Holy Wah! I don't think I could have pulled the wallet out fast enough to buy that one. I've got a '29 Model A pickup, but the AA's are the cat's pajamas in my book. Clean that up, put a set of nice red oak sideboards on the top with your syrup business logo on them.

 Thanks! It does kind of grow on you even in its current condition! The side boards may be the plan for our business advertising? I was looking at these with a flat bed and I really like that look too! GB Sisson has one with a flat bed on the Ford Barn site and it is sweet! We will see, many moves to make.

Chris, the idea about keeping the truck looking old and doing as little as possible to get it running etc. is interesting. We used to go the the Hershey, Pa. fall show (17 yrs) and they had a class for original vehicles. Always liked to see old vehicles that looked pretty nice but could still be driven. Just keep  us up on what ever you do.

It will be interesting to see if a polishing will bring out the blue.  They did use good quality paint back then!

@Sugarmaker; Chris, that truck is BOSS!! I'm amazed when I step back and think that this was state of the art technology when built. Even though it's archaic to us, this is the type of equipment that built this great country. This will be a fun journey. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.

Wonderful comments! Man, John is going to be here in a week +! I need to get my butt in gear for that visit! 
Yes I think this might fit in nice at a thrasher men's show, filled with sacks of grain! Also a dirt moving show in Brookville PA sometime.  I would like to take the 32 also. 
I have one son and a grandson on board with the truck, May have to drag the others along through the journey. 
Much work to do in the shop to be ready for this unit!
The 32 should be home next week if all goes well.

Prepping for tractor pull this weekend, that will take my mind off the truck. Also working with Jim B on his Doodle Tug. He came over and worked on it and fired it up with some gas and sparky applied! Then Matt stopped and we fired it up again!

If it were in MY stable, I would probably give it a careful washing, dump out the coolant and lubricants, add new, turn everything several dozen times to make sure it's alright, clean out the carb and fuel tank, make sure the starter and generator brushes are free, start and run it.

Clutch will probably be unhappy from corrosion where the plate has NOT been in contact, and the friction material may be seized to the flywheel too.

brakes will be really cruddy inside... need to pull the drums, and give them a gentle visit with sandpaper...

And grease every fitting...

I wouldn't strip or paint ANYTHING... I'd just clean it up good, and put a coat of wax on every surface to inhibit corrosion.

They're only Original ONCE.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

Cept the engine is stuck, so that may need some additional attention.
Question: What should oil look like in a truck that has set for 70 years?? This looks like it was changed yesterday! Clean and clear. Humm??

Chris— engine oil that was in my 47’ looked good on the dipstick, pulled the plug and it “plopped” in the pan, very waxy and slow! As to the brakes— figure on replacing everything except the drums, had wheel cylinders sleeved with brass. Ignition system was in the best condition, just a little cleaning on the points. Ignition wires were deteriorated, so needed replaced. Fuel— well just everything, lol! Just for a point a reference— after I had the motor free, checked compression and had a high of 52 psi, (3) of (6) cylinders had no reading. Lots of MM oil and Kroil later, I now have all (6) @ 90 psi. The motor ran with (3) dead cylinders! Best tool I purchased was the hand crank!

No need to worry about seized and corroded brake parts on that one.  As 'ol Henry used to advertize "solid steel pedal to wheel".  All mechanical brake linkage, unless some one has "upgraded" it!

personally theres no way i would ever think of repainting that , i would wax  rub and clean every thing the best i could , would even wax the rusty stuff

I think HudCo has it about right for the body work. Will be interesting to see if these is some paint under there!
