7040 hydrolics help needed

   any one know which direction the check valve goes in the rear tub im talking about the check valve that feeds the pump from the diffentral filters and and goes up to the pump? there is a two hole flange that has a flat shim/washer behind it then a rubber gromet behind it when compressed it seals around the tube to make a seal but between the pipe and housing there's a check valve stainless steel and plastic the stainless piece has two tangs do those tangs face the pump or the rear tub? thanks
