Found a 190 to part out....and realized it had a zipper front end with the wide front. What would this be worth in part or whole? The wide front has been repaired. More curious about the bolster.

I have one also, just waiting for the elusive pedestal. Probably $600 on the low side if your willing to sell it. Even with a pedestal, you need the zipper bolster. The zipper is easier to obtain unfortunately. Ive seen them go for $2,400. But, got to have a buyer that wants one bad.

I’m saying the zipper only, WF with it would go for more just because your getting more than just a zipper. I’m assuming the wishbone has been wielded in the corner which unfortunately was a weak spot. The WF off any 190 will work with a zipper, the zipper is unique because it can work with a WF, single, or NF. It just gave farmers the option of either of the 3 styles of front ends if they wanted to change. But you had to have a zipper to do so.

Right, but they listed it for sale, I called on it, agreed to buy it for the $600 it was listed for, and I am waiting for the shipping quote from them.

And the part that makes me nervous is the fact that the original steering arm has been torched off of it, and an external steering cylinder wide front was installed. So is the zipper bolster even good anymore? Or did it shrapnel inside?

Sent you a PM. That brings up a good question which means your taking a chance. Either someone bought a front end to replace a broken one and they had no idea what they had purchased and made it work. Or the bolster power steering went bad and they chose not to fix it or parts were not available to repair it. Only way of knowing unless the owner knows what happened is to purchase it, temporarily connect it to your existing 190 power steering hoses to see if it works.
A risk I’m not certain I would take personally.

Well Carl.... I guess it’s out in the open now for the world to see. You are correct in everything that you said. And..... my 17 year old son is getting a quote for you. But what does that mean???? The deal isn’t totally sealed yet??? That doesn’t mean a guy can’t ask what something is worth to learn from what he didn’t know. Does it?

I asked a simple question. Didn’t ask anything else. I have morals and don’t need schooled by a 28 year old what the right thing to do is. My son started his business selling parts on his own and he’s going to learn some things the hard way. As long as he learns and does what’s right that is all I care!!

I bought a PS Bolster for my D14 sight unseen.  I had no idea of the condition of it.  It sat for a couple years before I split the tractor.  It was a pain getting it in place and reattaching the axle.  But it sure is nice having PS!Smile

I bought one a couple years back for $1400, and just sold a different one recently for $1800. Just my experience.

Proper name would be the "interchangeable" front support. It has twin mini-hydraulic cylinders inside the casting that sit sideways, similar to what a 3020/4020 Deere would have. This allows for a narrow front end that then could be dropped off for a wide front like a D-17.  It cost more to build than the wide front axle with the external cylinder, which is what most people bought anyway. Kind of rare.

I got one on an XT around here, always heard the talk of them but never really understood the operation , the true narrow fronts are straight forward
