Does your internet get shut off at midnight? Lately ours seems to get shutoff from 12:00 to 12:15 every night.

Simply call your ISP and ask WHY ! Most companies will 'update' their puters and programs, some nice ones will post they are doing that though. Your ISP might be upgrading hardware, one box at a time ? I can't say so really ajust ask them. Aside from power failures, my Cable commpany is up 24/7. Since I have TV/net/phone with them it gets real quiet when the cable stops sending 'bits' to me.....

Most ISPs perform a 'Recycle' to clear their systems of remnants and dead cycle data, the one I use transfers our feed to another unit then performs the recycle without interruptions, that from the service tech.

you don't HAVE to be up that late to ask, call 'during regular business hours'..... as the saying goes. actually with equipment being dirt cheap, theres's no reason to not have 24/7 service. backups to hotswaps, clean UPSes,redundency x 3 or4.......

Well,,I don't know "WHY" they do what they do either,,,? I have their 50 MBPS Fiber service and during the day,,it usually runs right at the peak speed both upload and download,,,,but I've been up at some odd hours and notice that something is not exactly right ,,,so I'll do a quick check ISP check ,,,and,,,,and,,,sure enough,,it will be way down on the scale,,,They have a 24/7 phone number and I'll call em to ask wth is happening??The tech will make an "adjustment" and seconds later all is hunky dory. I'll tell the teckie,,"I'm gonna call every time you guys slow my service down, thinking I'm asleep!!! I don't care if they slow it down,,,but they got to "cut the charge" down too,,,!!! They ain't done it in a while,,,,, (I learnt this from ole Shameless,,,,,)

I don't have fiber available so I've had satellite, Viasat, for several years. A couple weeks ago a friend mentioned that T Mobile has an internet service for $50 per month. I checked on it and yesterday went on line with the new unit. It's nearly 4 times faster then the satellite and $10 a month cheaper. Not every area has it yet as you have to have a TMobile cell tower nearby. I'm hoping this works out, tired of the slooooowwww sat service! Edited by JohnColo - 24 Feb 2021 at 8:44pm |

We only have sat service here. Its funny, the guy that works for the phone company is 1/2 mile west of me at the top of the hill. He has high-speed internet but it won't run down hill to my place. They claim not to know why they can't get it down the hill. They ran all new wire or whatever it was 5 years ago.
