I had one rigged on my farm Pickup with a tank off a semi truck,, I put a pressure switch on it with a master switch in the cab. worked ok,, just not a lot of volume to run air impact and such, seemed like I was always waiting for it to rebuild pressure...
one thing,, check the oil every so often,, I messed up a couple by letting the oil get low....

You CAN... but a better choice would be to fit an electric clutch to a conventional 2 cylinder air compressor head.

The York is a real bulldog of a refrigerant compressor, but it is designed to pump a lower volume, higher pressure, and the refrigerant is also the cooling medium for the compressor.  An air compressor cannot do the same (hence, the exterior cooling fins) and has a significantly higher volume in working range.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
