I read in Farm Industry News that Agco was going to start putting Sisu engines in their MF tractors. Since they sold Perkins it makes more sense to use their proprietary engines than buying Perkins... duh? Wasn't this the main difference other than the color/decals between an Agco and the MF tractors? Could I order a new Massey without decals or better yet, Agco decals only? I like the dealer, I like the product and I could live with boring red paint, but having the Massey Ferguson name on anything would be a terrible embarrisment around here. Yes, I could deal with having a red Agco.

Oooo that be hard to do ; AGCO means ORANGE ; ALLIS GLEANER COMPANY ; Tractors aint the same now as back in the day ; componets, computers , overseas manufacturing and copycatting run wild in the industry; any more its just a decal I know but color still means something to me ; too bad its not AC making the ORANGE ones !!!

AC made the switch from green to orange back in the day, and they seemed to survive that change pretty well.

Doug,
I know what you mean but Allis Chalmers was pretty much destroyed by the Duetz take over in 1985. The Allis Gleaner Company had the spirit and the dealers of AC and together they built something completly different and successful. We all agree the new management has gone a different and wrong direction for the North American market. Time will tell if they will crash and burn like Duetz did but I doubt it. I think eventually if N.A. market share continues to drop while the competition improves something will change. However my question is if you are in the market for a new tractor and like me you have a great dealer, I have a dealer that gave my father great service when I was a little kid, I'm 51 now. They've supported my operation a long time and I still want to support them. And the fact is other than the color these are great tractors, as good as green or the other red ones. Would you buy one if not for the MF logo? I mean it's hard for me to consider a green tractor, although I have been thinking about CIH. I think I could live with a red tractor with the Agco triangle and NO MF badges on it for those reasons.

I've got the red with MF stickers and I have no complaints, but Massey has a strong history around here. I have an Agco LT with the cummins too. From the drivers seat there is no difference from red or orange but the hood!

I hear ya Dave, I,d prolly go for it ; dealer support is great and having dealt with them for so long , color doesnt really matter as long as its a good product ; and AGCO does have a very fine tractor out there no matter what the decal and color ; Agco may drop numbers here - NA - but their numbers overseas really keep growing and that will support the whole shebang ; it really dissapoints me on AGCO,s direction but I guess we have to roll with it and see what happens

Putting the color and features aside, I would have a very hard time investing that kind of money in a company with such poor management that can make such stupid decisions.

Nope. I would try to find another way to support that dealer, either through service or parts or purchasing another brand they carry. Hopefully they have a good used unit that will fit your needs. It is a horrible situation that the leaders(??!?) at AGCO have put their loyal dealers in, and it is incredibly difficult for me to consider supporting anything with the massey paint or name plate.
