Seems like it "was" a law in '84 when I was in drivers training in Indiana and in that era's "State Manual" Embarrassed . It just blows me away the drivers that have their wipers on "high" due to torrential rain, yet no lights on of any kind ConfusedOuch.

I think that law only pertains to trucks with 8 foot beds??  I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, not trying to water down the subject, or wipe the slate clean.

Once we got the automatic lights I never remember to turn them on when the wipers are on!  Only after I have trouble seeing another car, without their lights on, do I remember to do so! I would think they could turn the lights on when the wipers are on too...!

Here in Ontario 'daytime running lights' MUST be operational(work..) ONLY for the 'safety' to get your 'tag'. After that , you can pull the fuse and NOT have them on.......!!!!
it's about 50/50 now as to who has DRL working, yet probably 99.44% of all vehicles on th e road have  them.

A great deal of DRL systems turn OFF if the Parking brake pedal is even slightly off backstop, that stated unplugging that switch or it becoming broken will perform the same concerned problem.  It is NOT a State Violation ticketable to have no DRL, but many states DO have Wipers On Lights On laws, MO and IL both do.

my one burb has them auto headlights, i haven't found a way to shut them off yet. i'd like to kill the lights sometimes at night so i can sneak around a bit. all my other vehicles i can shut the lights off in different ways. like my GMC pickup...just push the e-brake down a couple notches and it'll kill the driving lights. and use the switch for the others.

I SEVERELY doubt half the people have pulled a fuse.  I SERIOUSLY doubt 80% of the people would even know that such a thing is possible, 99.5% wouldn't think it's worth the bother to even have the thought.  Guessing there's some other reason for your observation.

Many FORD trucks have an ON- OFF selection on the digital dash screen... Takes about 10 seconds to turn them off.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.
