I've currently got the "blue -10" solvent in my tank that hasn't been "topped off" since I've owned the truck, 5 years. Today I attempted to spray the windshield due to road spray and NOTHING came out (the coldest we've seen is 0) so I assume things are "slushy" and not spraying

Alcohol based, if not used for five years alcohol has evaporated away and you have Blue Water, worthless. Drain and Refill. I drain mine by Fall, refill with new and drain again by fall next year. Good UP TO One Season.

Thanks DMiller, does the orange or purple colored (for 3 times the $$) hold up better ?

With using only 1/2 the tank in 5 years, my guess is pump is dry and gummed up or the lines are. Not that cold is not also part of your problem, but most mechanical things work better being used rather than sitting for months at a time.

That would be a logical determination. My Ford p/u is a part time use, I drain the wash tank on it twice per year as not used much and refill with minor amounts and use the wash when first get in it after days to weeks of sitting.

I use the RainX orange (winter/summer) washer fluid. I don't think it lasts any longer, but I seldom use wipers when driving at highway speeds in the rain.
I just ordered a new truck and I told my wife I am going to take a gallon of RainX in, so they don't fill it with the blue fluid. I think you will like it if you try it.

Thanks for the reply Ray, but I've used it intermittently through out the years and as recently as a week ago before the "chilly" temps hit

Can't you just add some alcohol to the old stuff you got and make it usable again! I got vodka in the garage that ain't froze yet!

Check to make sure the spray nozzles are not plugged.
Before moving to Midland TX years ago, I used Prestone washer fluid in the wintertime, not cheap, but worked darn good. |

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.
