Wide front pivot questions

Found a wide front for my D17.  The front pivot is broken and needs to be fixed.  I don't know if it is cast steel or cast iron, but I was wondering if this could be repaired decently and if the repair was done right, would it hold up for putting a loader on the tractor.  Here are some pictures of the broken area.  Let me know what you think.

Chuck that might be a ruff one to repair and make hold up. I'd take it to a welding shop and have them look at it.

I know what you mean Don.  The deal is I haven't bought it yet and if/when I take it to my specialty welding guy, I will have already bought it as it's a couple hours away from here.  I was going to print off some pictures and go see him and see what he thinks.  I was wondering if I could set it up in a machine and drill the hole out big and then sleeve it with a thick piece of round stock with the center drilled out to the O.D. of the front piece on the wide front.  I know the trick will be to make sure that the sleeve wouldn't stick out further down and interfere with the bracket that the tie rods connect to.

Well, in my humble opinion, that job will not hold up. It appears to be steel, but the person doing the fix should have beveled the mating pieces so that the resulting "V" would be filled by multiple passes. As it is, all that is holding that together is one bead on top. I believe it is fixable by someone that knows what he is doing, but it would require grinding or cutting the piece out and starting over
On second thought, it is probably cast, and I think I already see a crack in the weld on the left side of the pic. If it's cast, still fixable, but requires more skill

I'm not responding to the welding question with an unqualified opinion.
   I'm trying to figure out how come I can't view the Farm Equipment section of the forum in its entirety. If I click on Lou's last  post I can get into this thread and even reply.
It's 11:10 central and it should be accessable. That sorta tells me heavy traffic on the forum is not the problem
