It’s time to overhaul my 190xt and was wondering who had the best overhaul kit out there and if there’s any piston replacements to help with starting in cool weather. Thanks

I put an Absolute brand kit in mine last winter. Seems to be good so far.   Parts looked identical to the originals from what i could tell.   Been doing some cold starts here lately without the preheater, and I'm pleased with how it starts.   Before the overhaul it basically wouldn't start under 50 degrees so it was pretty tired.   Now it starts without heat at 30 degrees. I usually only pull the fuel knob out half way on mine until i get it started, it really seems to help.   I wanted a power seal engine kit but couldn't seem to find a source for it and i didn't want a kit from reliance so i thought I'd try this one.

A big part of cold weather starting is how the head is done. Valves need to be at minimum specs and not ground way up in the head. On Deere tractors my machine shop would put boreable connecting rod bushing and would bore them offset to raise the piston a few thousands. Tom
