My biggest pain in the butt landlord is taking ground away from me to raise some next year. Guess I’ll get to see her test it out first.

Used to be quite a market for it here in MO, was wild growing all around the Ozark foothills, still is and if you look carefully at the MASSIVE marijuana captures and burn offs the state HP does the plants they are burning were Hemp not MJ.

Not many rope factories are returning to use of it as yet, a few late term hippies are making some clothing of it and baskets or grocery bags but not a HUGE market just yet.

Ever gets to running again could end up like corn and beans with huge over supply little demand or worse yet no monetary value.

Wife almost, really ALMOST bought into the CBD Hemp oil (Snake Oil) BS, spoke to our internist who stated if makes you feel better to use it go ahead but really has little value above any other placebo, just a state of mentally thinking does any good as with most non regulated supplements.

Sure wish somebody would start making square baler twine here, tired of paying 50-60 bucks a bale...

Was reading about it last year and heard a radio program about it. Sounds like a lot of government oversight and a hassle.

Don't remember too many specifics but do remember that routine testing was needed to make sure it didn't "go hot" through cross pollination. If it reached a certain thc level the whole stand gets destroyed.
Wonder if there is crop insurance to cover that!

Another crop option for people at least. I believe that diversification is a good thing but also wonder about over supply too.

Wink Dang sneaky cop, trying to get us to confess.Confused.........LOLLOLLOL

Now that I got that out of the way. At this time mostly a scam, you buy seeds or plants from XYZ corp with them promising the moon at sale. When time to pay comes they are long gone.

In time there will be a market for some of it. But just not time yet.

Wink How many of you ever handle the hemp rope? If it was that cheap stuff Confused from my youth used as trip rope around the farm on all the old equipment I sure don't want a shirt made of that prickly old stuff.LOLLOLLOL

It cannot be to hard to grow if all the old hippies that made living from it growing and using it didn't starve.Wink So I have to think all the just too good to be true profits are just that pie in the sky.

Hemp is also used to make clothes. Real fine stuff, silky smooth NOT like rope.
So I hve to ask...
isn't it 'raise animals, grow crops'....??

Ky is in the lead on this.
Within 20 miles of me there will be 500+ ac. this year.
They have a market for it here. One farmer, two years ago planted 4-5 ac, this year he is planting 40 ac. This is a BTO for here, 2000+ ac of row crops.
Another farmer stop by today and he is planting 12 ac this year.
I am trying to get some baled for hay, to feed to my sheep before they lamb.
100 years ago, that was one of it uses.
Can cut birthing trouble in half.
I was talking to a processor last fall and his biggest problem was the $50 per gal tax on the 190 proof he used to get the oils out. He had the demand to double or more his output.
