two square feet is an area 1 ft wide and 2 feet long.. TWO SQUARES like floor tile.

two foot SQUARE is an area 2 ft wide and 2 ft long... or FOUR SQUARE feet ....   2  x  2..
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Fred,
Ok lets see. 2 sq feet. a sq foot is 144 sq inches, two of those would be 288 square inches.
now a 2 foot x 2 foot square would be 4 square feet. 288 sq inches x 2 = 576 sq inches.
Double check me but i think this may be what your looking for??
 Regards,
 Chris

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Well that was a question in the original game. I remember because the answer the game had caused quite the argument. The question was phrased EXACTLY as you said, the answer was “2 square feet”.

That drove most of the group crazy, but apparently they were after the mathematical difference in area. As Steve explained.

To expand on Steve's reply:

A sign 2 foot square = 4 sq.ft.

A sign 2 square feet is just that: 2 sq.ft.

The difference is 4 - 2 = 2 sq.ft.

Learn something new everyday.

Back in high school the physics teacher would talk about pound/feet for torque and the autos teacher would would talk about foot/pounds for torque or vise-versa. Still confused!

Next they will be telling me pies are square.
