I have an L59 on the B, used to run it on the CA. In normal bluegrass I mow once a week to once every 4 or 5 days. It just doesn't do a good job if the grass is 6 inches tall and you are trying to make it look like a lawn. I have a couple places that I mow twice a month with no problem but it isn't thick bluegrass either.

I agree with Charlie. I have a L59 on a B also. ( the L59 cuts a 59 inch swath) They are not weed mowers. Over about 6 inch grass, you really need something a bit heavier duty.

I mow with a Woods L306 (6 Foot) belly mower on a 1943 C. I used to have it on a CA but I like the C Better. Cuts 6 inch grass better than my John Deere garden tractor. Will mow 8 to 12 inch grass but lots of clippings left behind. I always cut down to 2 1/2 inches.

Don't know the year of my B. I have a Case IH industrial mower under it that cuts 60". It does not like 5" to 6" tall grass. If I could run the blades a little faster I know it would but the pulley combination is as big as I can get without raising the seat for a bigger pulley on the pto. I cut about every ten days, first gear only.

I have to agree with the others, L59, half B, Half C, assembled from leftover parts of several restorations, so year is like Johnnie Cash's Cadillac, this time of year with the rain, I have to go over it twice, holding deck up higher on first pass. You can almost see the grass growing!

I mowed my yard 5 years with my C and a l59. Did a great job, C with good engine has way more that enough power for that deck. It will smoke the belt before it pulls the engine down. The quality of the cut was about the same as my old case 444 garden tractor, they both dont mulch up the clippings. They cut it off and leave it lay about like a sickle bar mower. I would cut grass 5-6 inches tall down to 3.5, if the blades are in good shape it did a nice job of even cutting. I could run 2nd gear, mow 1.5 acers on a gallon of gas.
