Don, I use atf, doesn't seem to create problems and is available everywhere. I don't think those systems were very fussy.

Dexron is what they used new.Dad and uncle installed them on their tractors in 60's.

Thank you Dipstick and Steve! I was thinking Atf because of its purple color. I noticed it was a little milky so I am changing it out! Thanks again I am ready to push and pull snow around. Think spring. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

I wouldn't be suprised if hy-tran would be fine,I just know what they used new. I think I read where Gleaner went to power fluid from Dexron on hydro's for better heat transfer.

ATF, Dexron, any hydraulic oil, or what they sell as power steering fluid will work as well as non detergent oil. The Charlynn pump is the the same as used on a number of Ford and Chrysler cars in the 50's and 60's.
