Hello All,
Just looking for some input. I am looking for a tough paint that does not require a clear coat. What are you using? Is polyurethane the toughest paint? Thanks Pastor Mike in Iowa |

Single stage means no clear coat, so that's what you want. I used acrylic enamel with harder on mine. It's looks good, but seems to chip easier than I'd like. When it chips you can see the primer underneath. I used self etching primer, then sealer, then paint. I have a theory that the sealer actually chips off and takes the paint with it, but I don't know if that's true.

Probably can't go wrong with ppg deltron with dp50 epoxy primer under it plus they have good allis codes.

I use urethane enamel with the proper hardener. I've used it on my last 3 tractors, I'd use it again.
I also prime with a self etching primer as the first coat, then use a sandable primer, followed by a sealer before painting. Works well. Oh yeah, I get the paint at NAPA. They too have all the proper paint codes. |

I have used Omni single stage urethane on several and like the gloss and durability of the paint. It is a PPG product and as said they have the proper codes. It is a lower level auto paint price wise and with primer, sealer, top coat, activator, and reducer it will cost in the $700 range to end up with a good paint job that will last your lifetime.
