It is a MM U industeral most likelt a military. They have a shuttle shift, and a torque converter , I think.

Nah, just individual cylinder heads. A lot of big engines do that. Easier to cast the part, and helps make an engine more modular. Just make a longer block and add another head, and boom you have a 6 cyl.

Phil is very right on his statement. Last issue of ANTIQUE POWER had a feature on the MM UTS. There was only 475 built in 1938.

I think Richard might be right on number 1.
number 2 looks like a UB standard with LP conversion. It may be a UB Standard Special
Number 3 is a thumper, R diesel I believe
and the UTS

Looks like south central Colorado, about 100 miles from me.
A lot of MM engines use 2 cylinder blocks and heads, that way they could use them on 4 or 6 cylinder engines with less cost per unit. A good low speed engine, last's forever with normal care.

The second MM is just a cobbled up UTU. It might be a UTE , but it looks to br a front pedestal for a dule front wheels. Not a standard, would have stering like first one. Also the rectangle plate behind the oilfilter to replace a cultivator lift is common on the older U's. My MM UBE has an ovel plate there, could be fore fulepump on a powerunit.

I saw a JD R idling at an auction once. It rocked fore and aft about three inches from the inertia of its pistons.
