Under hood emissions labels have been required since the 70s Is a federal requirement to be able to identify what is supposed to be there since the 90s in CA as the transplant of older engines was invalidated due to emission laws.

The newer emission stickers don't necessarily state engine size anymore. 8th digit of the vin# and there are some variables from there in some instances.

Glad to hear you get that kind of economy out of yours. I ordered six of them with Knapheid utility beds installed and coaxing 8mpg out of any of them was a stretch when empty. As low as 4.5mpg hauling the trencher, skid steer, mini ex, etc.
I ordered these for the same reason you state about gov motors and I was an active federal employee, (now retired) at the time.

All the pickups where I work are nearly all Gassers, Best seen is 5mpg as they are used to service machines in field and may idle for long periods keeping battery charged to run the pump systems. The bigger shop work truck is a 6.4 Ford PS Diesel, gets close to 7mpg, air compressor runs off the engine as does the secondary charging system for the crane.

If you are going to be nice and change the oil in that Ford engine be aware that one size of Ford engines (don't remember the size) if it was made in Romeo, MI USA it has METRIC threads on the filter. If the engine was made in Windsor CANADA it has STANDARD threads on the filter.

They are finally getting fuel mileage back to the same level as when the spark adnvance was on the steering colume or the 40's VW beetle or 50's Nash Metropolitan.

Well,MR king of "tugging", I've since looked under the hood of 5 Ford buggies today, my own included. NONE of them had a stamped engine size on the engine cover on a "TRUE WORK TRUCK" !! There WAS a badge on a "citiots" Lincoln Navigator though, IMO a grocery getter with a bed cover, I assume like what you drive ???

Download a VIN reader to your smart phone, scan the VIN number, will give all the specs on the vehicle.

Decode the VIN at AutoZone. 8th Digit of the VIN designates the engine. The same engine letter designation (3.5,3.7, 4.2, 4.6, 5.0, 5.4 6.2) is not consistence from model to model or year to year.

Are you suggesting that there were no dual-plug engines prior to the Mopar Hemi of 2000s?
If so, that's clearly not true. Ford put a dual-plug head in the 1989 Ranger 4cyl.

Dual plug engines came out a long time ago. My '29 OHC Stutz straight eight has dual ignition. Eight plugs on each side of the head and 16 wires out of the distributor.

| I have to admit I didn’t know anything about a Stutz. Had to look up info on them Interesting even made in Indiana. Cool looking old cars, although I’ll have to say it probably stutz to change plugs. Interesting enough they even made some under the name from 68-95 if that’s correct? Had no idea about either. Current design engines do not use both in the Cylinder, the Exhaust has a set to "Burn Off any Unburned Fuels" RIGHT and if do not get mix Air into that Fuel to 14-16:1 NOTHING there burns. Was the same consideration to the A.I.R. pump systems that did NOTHING but eat HP and cause issues. Some DINGFOD Enganear came to a Mathematical conclusion as to a supposition and it FAILED TO MANIFEST but EPA mandated those damn worthless systems regardless.
DINGFOD: Definition, Damned Ignorant No Good F'ing Obnoxious Dumba__. Are others but that one fits HERE.

Well, borrowed dads truck again for the weekend . He inquired HOW I got his MPG up from (when I got it 2 weeks ago) from 9.8 UP TO 14.5 MPG in 2 days !! How hard do you 70+ year olds HAMMER DOWN on your accelerator pedal ??? And WHY do you "old-timers" have to "GET-NOWWHERE-FAST" ??

And whines when stopped by Thru Traffic Trains.
I get 24-26mpg from a v6 Impala, have since bought in 2010, F250 SD unless dragging loaded trailer gets 14-17mpg, trailering HEAVY will still break 10mpg and AT Speed on both. Drive consistent and smart, Not On Gas On Brakes and back again all the way down a road and mileage will do fine.
