Need to see a osteoarthritis expert, there are anti-inflammatories that can be prescribed but are hard on other systems, have to be taken sparingly and with sensibility. I have osteoarthritis and am developing rheumatoid, wife already has serious rheumatoid with joint swelling/disortion where her doc is considering this path, mine is trying to hold me off awhile longer.

Joe, buddy I'm sorry to hear you're having to go through this.  Ya, you can and should do as Dave says, but sadly, be prepared to not find a lot of help.  Lasting help anyway.  I know it's in my future, as I saw my grandpa go through it, now Dad even worse than grandpa.  Good luck to you, I hope you are one of the ones who finds some relief.

I take way more ibuprofen than I should but it seems to work better than anything. I’ve tried the over the counter arthritis pills at Walmart with some luck.
I buy turmeric in powder form and it does wonders for the swelling. My mom makes the turmeric in to pills for me. It takes a bit before it starts working.

for temp help with pain and swelling, I use "salonpas" tape on my hands. they really helped me, the old lady....ooops...I mean the loving wife had surgery on one hand and now needs it on the other, but when she's in pain on the un-operated hand, she also uses the Salonpas tape. it's got what kinda smells like "ben gay", and maybe that's what's on them...but they work, i used them at work all the time.

Seems I have ostioarthritis in thumb on rt hand - had a cortozone shot there - didn't help much but now wrist seems to also be a problem - braces at night now on both wrists helps and i use a cheap ankle suport compression sleeve - box was $1 at Walmart for 2  , and it seems to help during the day if it starts hurting .
Biggest thing is have lost strength in both wrists, IBP or Narprexium and use sparingly if it gets bad

Good luck with it. I've got it in both hands and my back. I blame the water tank in the tire shop for my hands. Every time I stuck a inner tube in there I had to duck my hands under water. It didn't make a difference if it was summer or winter the water was always cold. I use generic acedophmin. That aint spelled right. I gets it at Walmart. Mom had me try the stuff in the little blue bottles. They claim you can just take one pill instead of a handful. Can't think of the name. Anyway they didn't work.

My Doc prescribed Gabapentin to help my back from hurting all time. It's nothing short of miraculous, but it comes with a price...Get about 4 hours of sleep at night, swell up like toad if I even look at anything salty, can only have 1 cup of coffee in the am. Joint and muscle pain I have lived with for so long is 90% gone. Cut my ibuprofen intake half.

Found a cream at the feed store called Two Old Goats that has helped me but my arthritis is in my lower back. If you can't find any send me an email and I will get a bottle and send it to you for you to try. Aleve works good for quick relief but it is also a blood thinner so it is contraindicated if you are on a prescribed blood thinner.

Pumpkin Seed Oil Benefits

8 Benefits of Pumpkin Seed Oil

  1. Reduces Inflammation
  2. Nutritional Aid for Cancer Patients
  3. Good for Prostate Health
  4. Encourages Mental Well-Being
  5. Fights Hair Loss in Men
  6. Great for Heart Health
  7. Helps Manage Diabetes
  8. Soothes Overactive Bladder

1. Reduces Inflammation

Replacing saturated fats with healthy, unsaturated fats makes a deep impact on the amount of inflammation in your body. In fact, a research study in 2015 found that replacing cocoa butter with pumpkin seed oil in the diet of people suffering from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in the walls of the arteries) reduced the effects of these diseases on test subjects. (4)

If you’re seeking to live a disease-free life, introducing anti-inflammatory foods and supplements into your diet is one of the key actions you need to take.

2. Nutritional Aid for Cancer Patients

You read that right! While there is no “cure” for cancer, pumpkin seed oil has been proven in several studies to support the health of cancer patients and/or a reduced risk of cancer.

Pumpkin seeds are one vegetable seed proven to help reduce the risk of breast cancer in post-menopausal women. (5) Additional research from the University of Rostock’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Germany has found the nutritional value of pumpkin seeds to possibly prevent and treat breast cancer. (6)

The future is promising for men as well as women — pumpkin seeds may also reduce or inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells. (7

For those currently being treated for cancer, pumpkin seed oil may also be an answer to common problems. A research study published in the Indian Journal of Biochemistry & Biophysics reveals that pumpkin seed oil’s antioxidant properties create a filter for radiation and protect against or prevent small intestinal damage from methotrexate, a treatment for several types of cancer and also rheumatoid arthritis. (8)

3. Good for Prostate Health

Perhaps the most well-documented aid of pumpkin seed oil for health is its vast effectiveness on maintaining a healthy prostate. It has been known to protect against prostate cancer, but it’s also great for prostate health in general.

Long used as a folk medicine for prostate health, research has shown that pumpkin seed oil can help to reduce the size of an enlarged prostate, especially in the instance of benign prostatic hyperplasia (age-related prostate enlargement)

A study published in 2009 reveals that men who consumed 320 milligrams of pumpkin seed oil each day of for six months saw a reduction in their symptoms and improved quality of life. The researchers conclude that pumpkin seed oil (as well as saw palmetto oil) “are clinically safe and may be effective as complementary and alternative medicine treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia.” (9)

That’s why pumpkin seed oil use is one of three steps to improve prostate health!

4. Encourages Mental Well-Being

We all need to consider the health of our brains and mental states. Studies using animal subjects demonstrate the impressive anti-depressive effects of pumpkin seeds with a reduction in depression similar to that of standard drugs. (10)

5. Fights Hair Loss in Men

Is pumpkin oil good for your hair? The management of hormones in a healthy diet is key to stopping and/or reversing hair loss, as it is linked to an increase in an androgen hormone, DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Pumpkin seeds act as a hair loss remedy due to their zinc content, which helps balance hormones, thus in turn benefits hair growth.

Can pumpkin seed oil regrow hair? It just may help according to some research. In a 2014 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, pumpkin seed oil hair loss benefits were apparent, as men who took the oil over the course of 24 weeks showed an increase of hair count by an average of 40 percent. (11)

6. Great for Heart Health

Is it any surprise that an anti-inflammatory supplement would be great for the heart? Through a process that may involve the production of nitric oxide, pumpkin seed oil exhibits antihypertensive and cardioprotective effects, meaning it can protect you from heart disease and/or heart attacks. (12)

It also reduces diastolic blood pressure while raising HDL “good” cholesterol and improving menopause symptoms in postmenopausal women, according to a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, pilot study of 35 women published in Climacteric: The Journal of the International Menopause Society. (13)

7. Helps Manage Diabetes

Diabetes has many causes, one of which is poor diet. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are manageable, and even treatable, with good diet strategies and supplements. Research shows that the fruit pulp, oil from ungerminated seeds and protein from germinated seeds of pumpkin all have have blood sugar-lowering properties. (14) This makes oil from pumpkin seeds a good addition to any diabetic diet plan.

8. Soothes Overactive Bladder

A 2014 study published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine suggests pumpkin seed oil extracts (from both the Cucurbita pepo and Cucurbita maxima varieties) effectively treat urinary disorders, specifically overactive bladder. (15) This indicates consuming this oil is an important part of maintaining a healthy excretory system.

Hey Hubert,,,I have seen some of that product!! Up in the Alien Town there is this lumber yard/ hardware store that everybody ought to go thru at least once in their lifetime,,,,!! It has been owned by the same man and wife for 68 years,,,and I'll bet they have at least one of everything ever made,,,and,,,,,,they both know where each piece is layin,,,sometimes under a pile of several other things,,,,,,!!! I don't know how they remember but they do,,!!. When you walk in front door,,,you are ASTOUNDED at the seemingly disorder of the place but they are both so friendly at wantin to help you find what you are lookin for,,,,,and they will tell you exactly where it is,,Clap I hope they sell out to somebody that will keep such a store going,,,but realistically,,it will go the path of the dinosaurs when they pass on,,,,,,
They had a box of thet cream on the counter and I laughed at the name,,but the lady told me it really did work. Didn't need any at the time but will stop there next time I'm in Roswell and get some,,but if they don't have any more,,,I'll surely send you some money for a trial bottle,,,,,ClapClap

Last time I was at the arthritis doc he gave me a shot in my thumb joint. Now this doc has Parkinsons. His got a 6" needle in his hand and his gonna give me this shot. I thought he'd call in a nurse, but not him. He pulled out a blue fiber thing that he laid his hand on. It steadied him enough to give the shot.   I've got another appointment with him in March I think. He talked about cutting the skin around the base of my thumbs, separating my thumbs from the rest of my hand, scraping the arthtitus stuff outta the joint and then reattaching my thumb. If that happened I'd really have to find a hired man. My darn to do LIST never gets shorter.

Lymon B Squires was the eye dr. In Berryville AR.For years. He had parkinsons so bad he used both hands to write his name.
When I got the bad piece of steel in my eye his daughter tried the first six tries to remove it. I went back the seventh day and ole doc Squires said he’d get that damn piece out of my eye.
He got to messing around and I told him he wasn’t sticking anything in my eye. He rolled out this machine and strapped my head in and clamped my eye open. He could turn little wheels and adjust the drill. It was all I could do to stay put. He got close and told me I’m gonna drill now. Now you sit still and don’t blink or else you’ll be blind.. seconds later he says I got it. I knew instantly that he got it.
When he unstrapped me he asked how I liked his machine? I said I liked it fine. He told me he was a self taught machinist and had built that machine himself.

"Just Tart Cherry" cherry juice. Has to be the Tart cherry juice. Drink a big swig every night and every morning. Reduces inflammation. Sounds crazy but it works. Wife gets it for me at Kroger's. Hard to find most places.

My dad’s in a similar spot with his hands and knees. Pills like gabapentin didn’t do much for him either, and he wasn’t too keen on adding more to the mix with all the other meds he’s on
