We decided to try a different style of child punishment this evening. My girls have been picking and gouging all afternoon and we've heard enough so we decided to try a different approach. We sat them on opposite ends of the couch and decided to turn on the weather channel and make them watch. Our intent was to bore them for a while because no 4 and 7 year olds want to sit and watch the weather channel right? Well.... It soon turned into a geography lesson that they apparently enjoyed because they're still watching and attempting to plan our next vacation. Either they aren't bored and it didn't work out they're bound and determined to be more bull headed than we are.

Your girls are making the best of a bad situation, a sign of intelligence. Maybe they will become meteorologists and spend 30 years with the National Weather Service like I did. Oh well, so much for intelligence. Travel agent might be abetter career. lol

Trouble with that is they're music fans. We have a lot of music in the house. I'm a guitar player, wife plays piano, girls are learning piano, and all three of them sing. If the NASCAR season was still going I could torture ALL THREE!!! I'll have to DVR the races next year

Well one might consider where these two came from!! What are the bull headed instincts of the parents? Are they taking after Mom or Dad or Both? And if they are they probably learned that bull headed I will make the best of a bad situation EARLY in life! Careful what you ask for!!!

Well...I hoped they're take more after the wife. She's never been in trouble. Only had one spanking that she remembers and that was because Papa couldn't hear wrestling and told her to quiet down. Now my childhood....I don't remember a week where I didn't get a spanking or grounded at least once. They say you pay for your raising. I owe a lot more than she does

Yeah Tyler,,,,,,,just you wait a few years!! Teen-age girls are a LOT of fun,,,,,,,if you're a teenage boy. If you're a parent, not so much.
My Mother used to have my older sister and I sit in chairs facing each other, NO TALKING and just look at each other. We used to do that quite regularly. Made faces at each other to see who would laugh first,,,,,,,as then THEY would get in trouble... Big sis used to always laugh before I would. hehehe
We sure got to know each other then and we're still very much two sibling who love each other now.

I think you did a good thing... you increased their boundaries in thinking... Now increase their desires to be with daddy while out workin on tractors or out in the fields and teach them there is nothing a girl can't do in any walk of life... if she / they want to.

Well.... Yes but I don't get that "I can't believe you did this to us" satisfaction. Sometimes I get that remark and I can say "you both pooped and peed on me do I need to even the score?" That usually gets me a "EWWWW"
