we have one cucumber plant that is producing big ones and a lot of them...but some are deep green and some are bright yellow, in the mature stage. ya'll ever have this happen?

yup, wife found out the hard way to plant cukes waaaaaaay away from squashes !
that made 100s of # of COMPOST....

It's normal for them to turn yellow. Those ain't no good for nuthin but hog feed. When we grew pickles, it was an every other day job. The pickle house culled out the big ones, and you didn't get paid for those. Moral of the story-- you need to pick them every day so they don't get so big!

I had pumpkins cross with watermelon one year.  I took a couple into work and they were orange inside, but everybody like the and said they sure sweet.

that's what we've been doing the past couple months Darrell is canning pickles. we'll try canning the yeller ones, dunno if they'll be the same or not. the one cucumber plant is next to a tomato plant, the tomatos haven't done anything weird yet tho. taters are about 10-15 ft away from the cucumber plant.

Cross pollination only takes place in members of the same family.  Cukes, squash and melons are all cucurbit family...Wink
