Does anyone know if a d15 starter will fit and work in a wd45? They look to be similar in design.

The WD/WD45 Delco 1107951 and the 1107758 D14/15 gas Starters are two different animals. The chassis' may look similar, but the operating components are different from one another. If you have a WD/WD45 stick with the 951 if staying with 6 volt. If your intention is to switch to 12V, I can convert the 6V unit to 12V if interested. When switching to 12V I offer the optional starter solenoid and eliminate the poor design mechanical switch. You then can go to a key crank start system as a nice upgrade. Your choice. If interested, shoot me an email. Be happy to help you out in anyway...Thumbs Up
