wd45 snap coupler

   i took the snap couple bell housing and hook assembly off last night so i could hook up the chain....i am assuming that spring  thing in there that keeps the hook closed should have two legsa on it underneath that upper pin?  i only have one and it looks like the other leg broke off at some point....also whats this chain supposed to look like, mine looks like someone used a dog chain...and where should it be routed so as not to get into the pto shaft or anything else down there....thanks for the help
