    Posted: 02 Feb 2011 at 7:08am
Hi, I need to know the distance from the bottom of the gas tank to the top.  Somewhere forward of the fill hole.  A VERY close guess will do.  I want to install a gas gauge in it.  I am tired of walking back to the barn to get it.  I can't measure it right now as the 45 is at the farm and I am in town.  TIA Ted

I use an Allis fuel gauge to measure fuel before jobs. It's a half a yard stick, which we carry in the tool box for that purpose. If I remember right from the fill cap to the bottom is 13.5 inches, that should give you an approximation for your need.   Dipstick In

Dipstick, I checked mine day before yesterday to decide if I should get some gas before the storm. It said 3/4 of an inch, that's about how high my stand pipe is above the inlet hole. Yikes, glad I got her back in the shed last time.
