    Posted: 15 May 2019 at 10:22am
OK, I read that beginning serial number of the last year of the WD is 131243, and the first WD45 started with 146607, and I'm presuming (actually I'd say it seems obvious to me?) that the WD last would therefore likely be 146606; is that correct or can someone enlighten me if wrong?
Reason I ask is that there is a WD and a WD45 I'm going to try to take a look at this weekend and hopefully get them as a package deal. I've only seen photos, including the serial numbers on the left brake housing rear. The WD has the curved shift lever (I know later ones had it or it could've been a replacement etc.), both have 3-bolt wide front axle. The one listed as WD is serial number 142907, which makes me think my presumption is correct, and makes it a 1953; the WD45 is a 1954.
Anyways, thanks for the replies and wish me luck! I just have to build another barn lol...

The curved shift lever (and helical gear transmission) was used during the last year of WD production. The first WD45’s were also made in 1953; the first 1954 built was tractor number 160386.

To answer your question, yes, the last WD was #146606. Starting in 1952, WDs 127008 and after had the newer transmission which included also the curved shifter.
