WD V8 with auto trans

I bought a parts WD Allis for the engine, I have always wanted to put a v8 in a tractor even just for parades if I don't pull with it. I have a neighbors who's farm had 440 powered WD in the 70s with an auto trans between the 440 and the WD trans. My question is what is the best way to connect the transmission output yoke to the tractor trans input shaft?

You would want a 2 wheel drive auto so that you have the joke from that, then find a yoke to fit the wd input shaft, then have a driveshaft shop make you a driveshaft. I've thought about doing the same thing to a wc but a wd would be best

You can pretty much install any engine you want in a set of WD rails. You just need to do the engineering end of it first in order for the job to come out nice n' clean. I have a styled WC which I'm switching over to an unstyled, and I have a GM Marine 3.0L 4 cylinder with standard shift three speed I plan on sliding in the frame rails. It'll still be a 4 cylinder, but how many WC's do ya see with a boat engine?.The plan to couple the drivetrain with the rearend is a custom driveshaft... Another one of my many projects I have goin' on... LOL!

Back in the day (60s & early 70s) most everyone was building a cheap puller with a worn out tractor and a junkyard engine. As mentioned set everything in place the so the driveshaft lines up then have a short driveshaft made with a joint on each end to fit. If length is a concern, you can have the yoke from the auto trans and the piece from the tractor trans machined off and weld a chain sprocket on each then use double roller chain for the coupling. For light duty #50 could work I have always used #60 and even behind a injected & blown 440 the chain never wore out. Would you be interested in a built up Dodge 360?
