Got the wd, put a 45 crank in it. Also have a wd 45 cam ground to 175 specs and converted it to distributor ignition. When I time it to the mark on the inspection cover and flywheel it won't run correctly. The timing has to be advanced a 16th of a turn or so. When it's run advanced it runs nice and smooth. When its set at the marks it runs poorly at idle and smooth wide open

Sounds like a good project. Where you get the Cam ground at?

You know blue this is a shot in the dark, but since you put in a 45 crank, which is fine, did you use the same gears out of the 201? If you did could this be throwing your piston timing off in relation to your mag and cam? Can't get my mind wrapped around it, but maybe Don or the doctor can step in and explain how this may or not be happening. What you can do is get all your timing marks on TDC on No.1, pull that plug and run a wire in until it touches the top of the piston, then roll it with the hand crank and see if the piston is where it's supposed to be. Just a fading thought I had.
